The location of the Palatino was great, just a couple of blocks from the Colosseum and near traditional restaurants and a bit of a longer walk to the Spanish steps, Trevi, and Piazza Navona. Our recently renovated adjoining rooms were great for my wife and I along with our two adult children. The one down side is that the room temperature could not be regulated. Our visit was December/January and the rooms were too warm. We could open the windows but there is a lot of street noise. So our choice was to be hot, or to deal with the street noise. The sound proofing was fantastic if the window was shut. The concierge helped make a few selections and deal with a place that dropped our reservation. The front desk could have been better staffed during peak times. The wait to talk to someone at the front desk was often long. The rooms were very well appointed, bathrooms were spacious. Cleaning service was great. There were rooms being renovated on lower levels which caused a fire alarm one evening and we noticed that the stairs were blocked on these lower levels so we were glad it was not a real fire. It was not clear how we would have exited if there was a fire. We did not pay for the breakfast option, but next door there are plenty of bakery, breakfast and coffee shops as well as a lot of restaurant options. People eat later than in the U.S. and reservations are highly recommended as most restaurants were often full (except the tourist traps).
