Via Gregorio VII is one of the most prestigious streets in Rome’s Aurelio neighborhood. It’s a central area, rich in history and attractions, and close to the Vatican. During the Jubilee, the apartment is perfect and very convenient for reaching all the holy sites. Across the street from the apartment is a supermarket open 7 days a week until midnight. There’s also a local market every morning. You can park for free right outside the apartment, and there’s a bike path running in both directions. There are bus stops providing access to various areas, including Piazza Venezia. Restaurants, bars, pharmacies, pizzerias, and various shops are located right outside the apartment and along the entire street. The SAN PIETRO train station offers easy access to Termini Station and Trastevere. You can easily explore the entire historic center on foot.
Additionally, near the house is a green space called “Tenuta Piccolomini,” where you can take a walk and enjoy an alternative view of St. Peter’s Dome. Even today, it retains the typical characteristics of the Roman countryside despite the heavy human development in the surrounding areas. You can have picnics at a farm called “Fattorietta,” an environmental education center that houses farm animals and hosts educational and social activities.
It also served as a filming location for the movie *Guardie e Ladri* (Cops and Robbers), an unforgettable 1952 neorealist film by Monicelli and Steno.
The house where Totò’s character lived in the film *Guardie e Ladri* (1951) was located on Via Gregorio VII at the corner of Via dell’Argilla, near the Cupolone, across from our FALL IN LOVE WITH ROMA VATICANO house. The intersection has become a landmark for movie buffs, who can see the area as it is today.
The Via Gregorio VII area is not just a tourist spot but the beating heart of the city.
