Staff was lovely, the hotel was easy to get to. Breakfast was nice. The beds/sheets were clean, as was the toilet and sink. However, the bathroom door does not appear to ever have been cleaned, the curtains, A/C unit and chair were very dirty, Some of the furniture was pretty worn and in need of refurbishment. We were ok for the 1 night we were there, but I'd have been very disappointed if I had planned to stay there for any length of time. It just needs a thorough cleaning.

The immediate vicinity seemed a little sketchy, looked borderline unsafe. But we were around the corner from the waterfront, and had no problems whatsoever.

The 1st room I was put in had mold all over the walls and ceiling. You can smell the scent of the mold as soon as you walk in the door. I was moved to a 2nd room that was barely cleaned. I had no phone in the room and basically had to wipe the whole room and bathroom down with Clorox wipes. I was asked how my stay was when I was leaving and complained to the front desk staff about the mold and uncleanliness. All that was said was "yeah there's a lot of mold on the 2nd floor" and "I'll talk to housekeeping about the uncleanliness. Hope you stay with us again." THAT'S A HARD NO! THIS PLACE IS BEYOND DISGUSTING IN AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE STAYING THERE NOT EVEN FOR 1 NIGHT.

The best thing about this hotel is he staff. Everyone there makes you feel as if you were at home. This is a rare asset in a hotel and am glad I found this place.

Location near to the Historic Portsmouth Downtown & in general to the Hampton Area including Virginia Beach. The Cemetery is across the street is part of the National Register of Historic Places (beautiful small cemetery).

The folks at the front desk were friendly. However, when we arrived to initially check in the room was not available. They said to give them an hour we ended up giving them until 530pm and to find out the room was still not clean. The reason was one housekeeper walked out, the other left by ambulance. I expressed my disappointment. When the room was finally ready the top cover of the bed was super wrinkly, giving us the impression it was not cleaned well. The was no fan for the shower/toilet area which caused some moisture in the room. No closet doors, the shelving above the closet rod was flimsy and unable to really hang clothes. Thought it was going to collapse. The pull out mattress in the sofa looked so disgusting the bodily fluids were visible. This about made us gag that we were to scared to find out what the King Mattress looked like if we pulled the sheets off. So we didn't...Otherwise, I would have lost my mind and didn't want to ruin our trip trying to find another location. Will never stay here again

One night at Comfort Inn Olde Town

Pros: Location for us was good.
Cons: It is an old hotel, and needs upgrades and there is a lot that needs to be fixed/cleaned properly.
Location: Starbucks with a drive through is across the street; like 20 steps away.
Stayed for one night in the beginning of July 2017. Front desk staff is very professional and personable; they were really great. The room itself was a bit disappointing. The beds and bathroom was clean, but the carpet didn't look it was vacuumed well, light switch panels were cracked, the safe in our closet looked like someone had tried to steal it; the carpet was all ripped up and floor boards exposed. safe on it's side. The room smelled musty. The bed was comfortable enough and the pillows were new/firm enough. We did not swim in the pool. Free breakfast in the morning was fine, waffles, cereal, milk, bagels, coffee, tea, juice. Free parking. It would be good enough for just sleeping. Room comfort level is low because it is hard to be comfortable in a room that doesn't feel clean.
