Majority of staff are amazing. Some not so good and need to rethink working in hospitality. Lobby appearance is wonderful. Room on other hand are old and so not worth the hefty price! Old rooms. Dark. Our bed was so old it had body indents on each side. If one person moved, the entire bed shook so much it woke the other up(felt like an earthquake-not exaggerating). Digital/analog tv, coffee/tea was like being at 2 star hotel. Not even any bottles of water in room and trust me you do not want to use the faucet water. We were told of pool renovations but we're not told that the floor right above where we were staying was also being renovated and could hear them doing construction in those rooms. I've spent far less elsewhere and received much better rooms and room amenities than this hotel offered. We requested garden view and got view of a rooftop. On a good note, great location.

Why you should WATCH OUT if you stay at the Grand

Check in isn't till 3pm We were told we would get a TEXT message around the "3 o'clock hour " When we did not get a text I finally called the front desk at 6pm ! The front desk told me it was a "glitch" and they apologized . The hotel is nice , the room for almost 600$ was very average , the bathroom average , no mini bar not even one bottle of water on the house ? The TV viewing was extremely limited , and we both thought to ourselves really ?... no free Disney movies for the kids ? We ordered a cheese quesadilla and French fries for a grand total of 40$ !?!?! They say they have 24/7 room service but the 24/7 menu is terrible and limited . If your vegetarian get ready as you have NO CHOICES . So we spent 560$ to stay from 6pm till an 11am checkout ? rediculous ! The staff was the ONLY SAVING GRACE ! They comped a dinner and wrote us two fast passes .... but unfortunately it did not make up for the late check in , the overpriced so so room or the early check out . We will never be back it's overpriced and not that special .

Grand Californian

The hotel is beautifully decorated for the holidays. They have a lot of nice amenities and restaurants and lounges. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. They are not spotless but not dirty either, honestly the best western was equally clean. We paid for a downtown Disney view and we did have one if we leaned out over the roof of the business below us and looked left. Otherwise it was primarily a roof and vent view. The employees were nice but definitely didn't go out of the way to engage or make us feel welcome as they usually do in the 4 and 5 star resorts I've stayed in. I'd stay here again for the amenities and the closeness to the park but not based on star rating. It's convenient and that's what you pay for, but otherwise it's not necessarily worth the extra money.

NO value for the price

Pros: Nice lobby and friendly staff.
Cons: All rooms should have a microwave. And the cost is about four times over priced.
Way over priced. The hotel is grand but you can walk around and look at it for free w/o having to book a room. If you do decide to stay make sure you at least get one with a view, or don't bother. Paid $30 for a buffet brkfst at the Story Tellers Cafe. I could have had room service for half that. Wish I had bothered to research the prices before. It was nice being close to everything but a free shuttle from a nearby hotel would have been just as good. Also the drinks at the bar are also over priced by about double. A beer for $9, a lemonade for $5.

Run Down Motel Rooms at a Luxury Price

We were so excited to stay at the Grand Californian, but we were very disappointed. I don't mind paying the extra premium for a Disney property because of the convenient location and usually themed rooms. However, the hotel rooms were small, run down and sorely in need of renovation. There was no Disney theming other than the shower curtain. The beds were falsely stated as being queen beds, but they were doubles. The pool didn't seem to be heated at all, which really disappointed the kids. It's too bad, and we won't be back.

A little too expensive.

Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. Rooms are nice, but nothing special and are way overpriced. Would stay here again, but in the off season.

It's all about the location.

The lobby and other common areas are stunning; typical Disney. After that, pretty ordinary. Nowhere near worth the cost, except for the one big thing: basically inside the park, and super easy access to all things Disney. And that is worth a lot. Peeves: the running loop of vintage Disney toons in the lobby is great. All the kids love it. Why not pipe it into the rooms? My daughter was soo disappointed with just the standard cable Disney options. And the bedtime story? What's up with the exact same one, over and over, the same night, and every night? We all know Disney can do better.

Truly enchanted

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, spacious
The staff, the room, and the atmosphere and experience exceeded my expectations. We went for our 10 year anniversary and the entire experience was outstanding. We are looking forward to returning next year.
