Nice hotel, but for what they charge, should be a better experience. Specifically, our room was only equipped with one robe and one bath towel. When I called for another bath towel it never came and had to call again. The TV also didn’t work that night they said it was an issue with the provider. Anyways, for pushing $300, expected a much more buttoned up experience.

The overall quality of the hotel and staff was poor. While the room itself is clean and on the smaller side, it had a very loud buzzing fan noise that couldn't be turned off. On contacting the front desk, the response was " we can give you a sound machine if you want". Well a sound machine will only add to the noise !!. The mattress was also extremely uncomfortable for a hotel of its "class rating". it was a spring mattress and both my wife and I kept rolling towards the center as it caved in. The final straw after an extremely uncomfortable night was when we requested our car from the valet in the morning after checking out; he pulled the car upfront and left us standing by it for a whole 15min in the cold without a key; just disappeared to get another car. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone, or keep your expectations low for a motel 8 kinda experience.

The hotel is beautiful and located in a very popular area in Minneapolis! Our room was very spacious and had very minimalistic and modern design, which I love. The only thing that I didn’t like is the fact that there is no closet and very little space to hang the clothes. It wasn’t a problem for us because we were there only one night. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were clean and crisp

I thought for the money, the Hewing was just OK. I know it's not new anymore, but for over $300 on a weeknight, it felt like I deserved better.... service, cleanliness (the room was very clean, however), attitude. Some desk attendants were very helpful, others looked away as I struggled to adjust a luggage carrier. Literally NO ONE offered to help me take my luggage to my room. I gave the parking attendant $20 thinking he'd help me with my luggage as well as park the car, but the parking attendants are contracted out, so they are not helping you as a guest, just as the driver of a car they get to charge to park. Then entryway felt dingey, as did the hallways. Pluses: clean room, very quiet, beautiful view from rooftop, excellent location downtown. I felt for a "hipster" hotel, the vibe was lacking. I've stayed at other similar hotels downtown at a lesser price, so was hoping the Hewing was going to WOW me. Oh well.
