Great location, Good Value

Few steps to Puerto Del Sol, taxi, hop-on/hop-off bus. Cortes Ingles across street. Walking distance to lots of attractions, restaurants. Pretty quiet at night. Room 204 on corner is good size for 3-4 people (comfortable bunk beds), super AC, balcony. Small TV. No pool. Very good breakfast. No common area.

This hotel was friendly and made us feel welcome.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
The staff was friendly and helpful considering we did not speak Spanish. The location was good although our cab driver could not find the hotel and drove and drove until we jumped out and asked some people on the street where it was. You can not get to the hotel by car. You must walk a few blocks after being dropped off. If you like to shop it is in a prime spot. The only problem we had was the bed was really hard and because of this hurt our backs. I would reccomend it as long as you like hard beds.

Great location and nice rooms

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
The location is the best part of this hotel. This makes it easy to explore Madrid. The staff was also helpful if you ask for anything but you do have to ask.

This Hotel has the feel of the "heart"of Spain and it's people by it's welcoming location and staff.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
This is a hotel that gives the feel of Madrid by it's location and it's friendly office staff. We fell in love with the walking streets, the stores, the museums, the parks and the people because the hotel was located where all was within walking or bus access. The Petit Hotel was our first taste of Spain, and the Continent and would recommend it if you don't want a sterile tourist experience. The breakfast was located on the roof with the ambiance of the continent. The office personnel were friendly and helped us in navigating to the points of interest and recommending places to see. They willingly spoke English, as our Spanish was nill. We hired a shuttle to take us from the airport to the hotel and would recommend this to others because we would never have found it if we had taken the public transportation. There is no place to park a rental car.

Don't stay there -BAD DECISION

We had two rooms reserved at this hotel for three nights. Just to let you know, the ""online travel website"" guests are placed on the lower floors near the street. The location of this hotel is right in the middle of the shopping area. It is very loud and noisy all hours of the day and night. The windows to the balcony were newer but were not installed correctly so they never completely closed. The first day they did not clean one room and the second day they did not clean the other. We complained and were told perhaps we had a ""do not disturb"" sign on the door. That was not the case. One night the noise outside was so loud at 2am I called down to the desk and asked what could be done. I was told that there are ""police"" who handle that. They never made an effort to do anything and the noise continued for well over an hour. They also host a lot of bachelorette and bachelor party guests who come in large groups and are loud and drunk. This is definitely not a three star hotel as described. The air conditioning only worked selectively also. The first night it was well over 90 degrees and it did not work. We were extremely disappointed with our decision to book this place. It was not as described at all. The only good thing was the free internet which also worked only on occasion. Do not stay there with families. There is noise and people begging around the hotel. The front door to the hotel is locked and you must be buzzed in. That should tell you something about the area it is in. Worst online travel website choice we ever made.

Excellent Location

This hotel was located right in the middle of the car free shopping zone. It is surrounded by shops. There are numerous restaurants just blocks away near the Plaza Mayor. It was a great price for its location. Most tourist spots were within walking distant. There are two subway stations and a large taxi stand within a block of the hotel.

Pictures not worth a thousand words

We reviewed other customer comments and took a video tour or the hotel before booking. There would be 3 adults so we were interested in the bedding arrangement. Each picture of a room showed the std European queen, twins shoved together, and a separate 3rd bed that appeared to resemble a murphy bed arrangement. Definately NOT the case when we checked-in. Three twins shoved into a room approx 15x16 US ft. Obviously we were not there for the room, but it was very inconvenient. The staff and service was good and the location, just off Puerta del Sol, was great. December 25 - 30, 2008

nice hotel

This was a nice, clean hotel. The staff were very pleasant and spoke fluent English. They helped me arrange day trips. The room was small though and the breakfast buffet was expensive. The hotel was right off of Puerta del Sol,which was great, and right beside a major department store.

Great little place

The stay at this hotel was very comfortable for two single travelers. Beds were comfy, rooms were clean, it felt safe. Only minor problem was needing toilet paper in the middle of the night - don't laugh, that's the time we got in and found the empty roll had not been replaced. I would recommend this hotel if you don't plan to spend too much time in your room - sleep, clean up, go.
