I made the right choice to stay here. One of the best experience I had in Kyoto, I wished I booked more than a night. The staff were very welcoming and courteous, they gave me a 5 star service. The room, actually it was more of a suite, was clean. I felt like I was in a different world when I was there because of the set up/ambiance. They also have a great location, just right beside the shrine.
Just don’t bring heavy luggage because of the stairs, I felt bad that they carried my heavy luggage for me. Also, not their fault, the GPS made walked around the shrine when the hotel was just located almost in front the bus stop.
If you are looking for a traditional ryokan experience, then this is the ryokan for you. The ryokan provided comfortable yukata for guests to wear including to breakfast and the kaiseki, hosted in a beautiful restaurant with views of the garden. The traditional Japanese breakfast (included in price of stay) was different and delicious each morning, and the kaiseki was a unique experience, although expensive. The tatami beds were comfortable and the barrel style tub in the room was delightful. The only drawback of the room was that parts receiving sunlight (vanity, couch-seating area) were very hot when we visited (100+ degrees F in late July), so it required some adjustments with the doors and AC. One thing to note for Westerners - you need to take off your shoes in the lobby and put on wooden sandals and then do another change into slippers provided by the hotel before walking up the stairs to the rooms and then take off your shoes before entering your room. It makes for a tricky walk up and down the steep stairs with limited hand railings. The onsen was small, but high quality with an infinity style tub. The staff were very accommodating and patient with clumsy westerners
I loved the traditional room (although my husband would have liked a western chair). The owners and staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were amazing!
My niece and I stayed here for one night to experience a traditional Japanese hotel. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The room was very comfortable. The ryokan is within walking distance of many sights. I would highly recommend staying here!
The staff are amazing, very helpful and informative and friendly. Definitely a more unique experience where they help you get the most out of it! Even the traditional style beds were actually more comfy than some of our more western hotels we stayed at!
A good place to experience a traditional Japanese Hotel. The place was top notch. The staff and the service they provided were beyond 5 stars. And the Breakfast was to die for.
Loved this place!
The staff are amazing - super friendly and helpful.
The food is great and so much of it
The beds are comfortable and everything is beautifully maintained
Highly recommend
A fantastic and authentic place right in the heart of Gion and next door to the yasaka shine. Everything about it is considered and beautiful. A true gem in Kyoto. The breakfast is epic. Kimono’s suppled by the ryokan can be worn around the property which is a nice touch. Staff as amazing.
Good location although hard to find at first as the entrance is a doorway on a main road. Steps up were difficult with our suitcases. Lovely inside and very attentive staff. Room was lovely and beds very comfortable. Wooden bath was unusual but worked fine. Had a Japanese style breakfast in the restaurant which was beautifully presented. Good experience but expensive compared to local hotels.

What a wonderful experience! Above and beyond what I expected from a traditional ryokan. Friendly and accommodating service, incredible breakfasts, perfect central location for our first visit to Kyoto. We were a little concerned about sleeping on a futon but it couldn’t have been more comfortable. Highly recommended if you’re looking to stay at a ryokan.
Customer service was amazing, rooms were beautiful, breakfast was luxurious, perfect location, and onsen was great. I would recommend this ryokan to anyone (unless you have mobility issues/physical disabilities due to the stairs).
Yuzuya Ryokan was one of the highlights of our stay in Kyoto. The service was unbelievable - they stealthily kept our room clean and supplied with fresh water, tea, and snacks at all times without being seen (like ninjas!).
The Japanese breakfast included in our stay was phenomenal (a spread way too big to finish), and they even offered us an "American Style" breakfast as an alternate option for variety. The restaurant is peaceful and gorgeous.
The staff was friendly and helpful (upon checkout, they carried 3 suitcases and 5 bags from our room to the street in less than 2 minutes).
We stayed during the winter months and always walked into a cozy entrance with a heater and incense giving us a warm welcome home.
Lastly, you cannot beat the location - RIGHT next to the entrance of Yasaka Shrine, and steps from old town Gion (we spotted 4 geishas on our first night). Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Great experience, and the treatment of staff was excellent, I really enjoyed my stay there

Excellent service and wonderful kaiseki breakfast and dinners. Location extremely convenient near many shrines, temples, dining, shopping, transportation. Only downside is facities are on the older side and air conditioner is loud and always on in the room during the summer.
Fantastic stay steeped in Japanese tradition. Rooms beautiful, welcome wonderful, beds comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, prehaps a bit too much for teenagers, but still amazing and delicious regardless.

Artisinal authentic Japanese ryokan with superb yuzu themed food! Central location and lovely well-maintained property! Warm hospitality! Check dinner times since we almost missed ours..
Great location, beautiful property, and tremendous food. The staff was tremendously helpful and had great senses of humor. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
