Received a room upgrade, so what we stayed in would not be typical. Clean and well appointed. The window into the shower (from the bedroom) is always a weird choice, but there is at least a blind. Fancier than what we expected but very appreciated. Dining options on site too expensive for us. Staff were very professional and courteous.

This hotel had impeccable service, luxurious rooms, great amenities, and a convenient location just steps from Kyoto Station. The in-room massage was also excellent, with an incredibly cheap price. Make sure Google Maps gives you the directions for leaving from the north side of the station. It's only about 200m/yards if you exit that way (towards Nidec Kyoto Tower). If you exit from the south side of the station, it'll take you a weird way over a bridge and through alleys.

This is more like a 4.5 because the breakfast buffet isn't particularly... great. But otherwise, the room we had was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The staff was also very courteous and attentive. One tip though: try to get familiar with the neighbourhood at the beginning of your stay because it's such a busy area and it can be confusing especially if you want to get to Kyoto Station on foot.
