Room was not available at check in time. Bathroom floor was filthy and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles were on the shelf empty. Very disappointing for the price of this hotel!!

Below average hotel

Unfortunately our stay was not the best experience. The pool was extremely cold. They told us it would get colder because the heater was not working. The hot tub was also not working and could not be fixed during our stay. The room was very dusty and did not look clean. I had the staff fix a couple things in the room and the ladies who re-made our beds were very kind and helpful.

Stacy, we thank you for the honest feedback and we our deeply sorry for the mechanical issues we had with the pool and hot tub. Since we have replaced all heating elements and they are both back up and running. We hope you give us another chance.

Eh

Pros: Free hot choco
Cons: Heat the pool. Clean under the beds
The pool was very cold. My 12yo found ky jelly under the bed. The pizza was gross. The change machine in the arcade was broke. But there were only about 5 games anyway. Be aware no one under 18 is allowed in the hot tub. On the plus side-there was free coffee and hot choco.

We apologize for the hot tub rules, as it was a trial run for all the issues we were having, with adults not being able to utilize the hot tub. Since your stay our management has removed that rule and all guests are allowed in the hot tub. We have also reached out to our arcade vendor and had the issues in the arcade addressed also. Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Nice hotel

Pros: Clean, Very nice staff
Cons: Provide a free breakfast for guests, keep the pool a little warmer
Location: Location was great, there are a lot of restaurants and stores within minutes of the hotel.
The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was nice and everything we needed, roll away bed, towels, etc., we got as soon as requested. The couple things that would cause me to not stay here again is that we stayed here mainly because of the pool....the pool closes down at 10:30 for "adult swim" hours which was a little disappointing as we didn't get to check in until 8:30/9 that night. The pool was also pretty cold, I heard almost everyone in there complain about that. The restaurant was super expensive and the food was just ok, however our waitress was very nice, so that was a plus. The big thing for me was they don't offer a free breakfast like almost every hotel on the planet....it's a buffet for $12.99 for adults $5.99 for kids.....which 2 adults and 3 kids would have been almost as much as dinner the night before with kids that don't even eat $6 worth of food each, nor would I eat $13 worth of food...so we had to leave site and run to McDonalds.... Overall it wasn't the best hotel to stay at, but wasn't the worst.....I will probably try somewhere else next time.

Thank you for stay with us and taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that your stay was less than exciting. Modifications have been made to help warm the water temp in the pool and your comments about the pricing of the food in the restaurant have been discussed but like all full service hotels we will continue to charge for our breakfast because of the many items we offer. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope you will try us again. Staff & Management Holiday Inn Kalamazoo

Pros: nice room close to the pool
the room was clean we went to the pool and the spa was drained and I put my foot in the pool and it was freezing had my granddaughters ages 8 and 2 and my 6 year old niece with me the water was so cold that there lips was blue when they came out of the water. this stay was to be enjoyed before the kids went back to school I wanted to relax in the spa but I couldn't even do that they did fix the spa the night I was there or lets say they filled the spa as the next morning we went back to the pool to see if it was warmer or that the spa was working as it was not only one jet was working and because the pool water was so cold all of the kids was in the spa wasn't very relaxing if you ask me and I don't blame the kids as they wanted some warm water

Nice room condition and quality

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
I had a great time when I stay at the Holiday Inn. However, the internet was too slow to do something such as email.

Great for a Mini-Spring Break

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, swimming pool, video arcade, bowling alley nearby, waterpark nearby, museum nearby
Cons: Noisy
We couldn't get reservations into the Holiday Inn with a waterpark in Grand Rapids. So, I took my 6-year-old son and his friend for an overnight stay at Holiday Inn West in Kalamazoo and a day at Pirate's Island (the waterpark) nearby. We stayed here so the boys could swim and play video games at the hotel and have a free breakfast. Great food but it took forever for us to get our dinner! Breakfast was awesome. The room and the pool were great. But the hotel was noisy--people slamming doors late into the night and early in the morning. We didn't get much rest. Hotel location is great--it is close to other places of entertainment for kids for daytime activities. All in all, not a bad value for the money.

Just an average hotel

I stayed here for one night with my 6 & 7 year olds for spring break. The check-in staff were nice and welcoming. They offered to "upgrade" us to a room with direct access to the pool and I eagerly agreed. Bad idea, if you need to get some sleep! It meant that we were together with all the other springbreakers (mostly tweens and teens) and it was loud with voices in the hallway and doors slamming until way after 11pm and again as early as 7am! The pool area was clean but watch out as the areas around the pool was very slippery! We found out when one of mine slipped & hit his head! Luckily he was alright. I liked the idea that "up to 4 kids can eat free with one paying adult." Howevever, the portions on the kids' menu are obviously for 2 year olds. My boys ordered pizza--they were about half the size of the personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut. Two bites, the pizza was gone & they were still hungry. Oh, and it took forever for us to get our food AND the check. The waitress kept disappearing. The idea of a hot breakfast was also good. We chose the breakfast bar so we wouldn't have to wait so long to get our food. But it took them forever to refill the items. The omelette station looked appealing but don't get an omelet--it is THE WORST omelette I have ever had BAR NONE. It was so cold the shredded cheese didn't even melt & the veggies were still raw. We paid $* + taxes for this room and that was too much for a hotel that's just average!
