Book a hotel near House of James Norman Hall, Arue

"This room was fantastic. The property sits on a black sand beach and has a very large pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only minor issue was that the WiFi was very spotty. When we checked out, the receptionist told us that there is a setting for iOS devices that is needed for a more stable connection, so be sure to check with them when you arrive. "

"We loved the private beach. This was our daughter's favorite part of the trip. There are other people who have access to the beach as well as you are in a neighborhood of Arue but compared to the public beaches you have a piece of paradise all to yourself. We also enjoyed all the animal life (giant snails, crabs, birds and one day we even saw a sea otter swimming near us). The neighbors do have dogs (and there are a lot of dogs in Tahiti) but they did not bother us. The rental van was a must for us. It enables you to go to the local markets, grocery stores, restaurants, and visit the island. We only booked one tour on viator which was snorkeling (and technically you can do that in the private beach area), but we are not experienced and wanted a guide to take us into one of the lagoon areas around the island. Our primary purpose for booking a Vrbo over the resort was the private beach and having access to a rental vehicle that would allow us to explore independently. There are a lot of bugs (it is a tropical island), so bring bug spray and anti-itch cream. The hosts were very respectful of personal space and we only saw them a couple of times during our stay and for the pick up and drop off at the airport. We wanted to experience life as the Tahitians do and so that is what you will get with this beach house which is among the locals who are extremely gracious and friendly. "
