Broken elevator
I typically avoid reserving hotels in the D.C. area rated below 8.0, and unfortunately, this stay reinforced that rule. Despite its suburban location, I struggled to find parking when I arrived at 1 a.m.
Upon entering the hotel, I learned the elevator was out of service. That meant hauling luggage up four flights of stairs—not ideal, though the stairwells were thankfully short.
The room itself was immediately uncomfortable. The air conditioning was off upon arrival, and with outside temperatures at 87°F, the interior felt the same. Even after setting the unit to “High” and “Cool,” there was little change after 20 minutes.
Most concerning was an unpleasant odor near the desk area, which made it very difficult to work. It was musty and stale enough to suggest a lack of deep cleaning or maintenance.
This experience didn’t meet expectations, especially given the hotel’s proximity to a major metropolitan area. I hope management addresses these issues for future guests.
