Make a splash at an indoor pool hotel in Exeter
The quickest way to get into a vacation state of mind is a dip in the pool. Exeter has plenty of sights to see, local flavors to sample, and attractions to explore, but you won’t feel really relaxed and rejuvenated until you put down your bags and put on a swimsuit. The hotel pool is perfect for a meditative evening of floating, a vigorous workout of lap-swimming while trying to beat your best time, or a cool morning pick-me-up before coffee and breakfast. Save money on a couples’ spa treatment by bringing your sweetheart down for a dip, or break out the floaties and get the whole family in the water. Atlantic Beach Hotel Newport
"Best Location! Easy drive to Bellevue Avenue or Newport's waterfront downtown. You easily can walk to the public Easton Beach (but of a walk to the Cliff Walk by the seaside mansions). The beach/water frequently has red algae, which is harmless, but requires water shoes to walk through & lots of rinsing off afterward. The beach can also attract huge numbers of seagulls. (I much prefer the short drive to Sachuest/Second Beach, $30/day parking until 5PM, but pristine, with great facilities & snack bar). The hotel is very clean, housekeeping is exceptional. Check-in was easy and we were allowed to check in early on a quiet day. The parking pass for early check-in is great! The affiliated "Tickets" restaurant was very nice for al fresco dining on the deck. It opened at 7:30 AM for breakfast, not 7:15, per Google. (Within easy walking distance are many good restaurants, Flo's famous clam shack, and Clemmie's homemade ice cream). I believe Expedia says the hotel provides beach towels - it does not ($20 at CVS). The Front Desk didn't know where the Easton Beach stop was for the free Newport trolley(?) We were in Room 110, one room from the stairwell, very noisy late at night the first night. The hotel is "non-smoking"; however, we woke at 2:00 AM to the sound of someone loudly hacking and coughing in the next room (it sounded like it came from our bathroom). The next morning I smelled cigarette smoke in my bathroom. Informed the Front Desk. Overall, good value."
