Good enough for a last minute landing

The hotel room and the hotel itself is very nice, but there is a $30/night parking charge and a $12/day wifi charge...I thought we were past the days where you have to pay for wifi *anywhere*, especially somewhere that advertises itself pretty heavily as a business hotel! The shower had great water pressure, though, and lots of hot water.

Beautiful hotel, great location

Pros: Close restaurants, lovely washroom, beautiful lobby
Cons: No free Internet
My stay at this Westin was great. Very friendly front desk staff, willing to look up anything for me online. (i was traveling without my laptop). Also, I was pleastly suprised by the lovely, yet elaborate curtains in my room! I was in Edmonton in July, and the sun doesnt set until almost 11pm... so these shades/curtains that I could easly draw covered the 4 large windows in my room definitely made it possible for me to sleep earlier when I needed to get up early the next mornings. Perfect.

What a Hotel Should Be!

The Westin in downtown Edmonton really delivers in every area. The staff are always welcoming, professional and courteous. The doormen still open doors for you here! They have even gone above and beyond to ensure our stay was the best it could be. The rooms are spacious, modern and inviting. The food is great and the roomservice is outstanding with the food arriving quickly and still hot. The best part though are the beds. You sleep in sheer luxury and never want to get up in the morning. I always look forward to my stay at the Westin and would recommend it to anyone!

The best hotel in Edmonton

I travel to Edmonton a few times a year and have stayed at several hotels until I discovered the Westin in downtown Edmonton. I am in the hospitality business, I own a successful cake and pastry cafe and restaurant in Vancouver, so I have a good eye for genuine customer service. First of all the hotel is well located in downtown Edmonton, next to the main branch of the public library. The building is well designed with parking underneath and very well furnished. The guestrooms that I have stayed in are more than comfortable with the famous Westin Heavenly Sleep beds. There are large flat screen televisions in every room and the bathrooms are finished in marble with the best hotel showers I have experienced. One thing I would like to see in the rooms is free wireless internet. All of the staff that I have encountered have been beyond friendly and efficient, making sure that my stays have all been the best experience that they can be. The restaurant off the lobby on the main floor has excellent food and I usually end up taking a few of my meals there. There is a server named Czarina that has been with the hotel for 25 years, she is a real delight and knows how to take care of her guests. The only complaint I have about the restaurant is the last time I was there the chef had imposed a “no changes policy” on the menu. Not so guest friendly for those of us that are staying in the hotel, a detail I hope that has been re-thought. For quality, location, courteous and efficient staff all at a very reasonable price, the Westin Edmonton can not be beat.

Kensington Park Hotel

This is the third time I've stayed at this hotel. The staff are helpful and the rooms clean. The room this year was by the best.

The Westin Edmonton's downtown location was a very nice hotel, overall; my room was gorgeous, I loved the heavenly shower and king sized bed and the overall atmosphere of my room was very modern and relaxed. However, I was not informed of any underground parking fees when booking my hotel stay... instead, I was informed during check-in that it was $26.00 a night. I was a little bothered but there wasn't much I could do since I just drove 3 hours to get to Edmonton, was downtown, and just wanted to check into my hotel. Anyways, the second night of my stay, I decide to leave and find a $75.00 parking ticket on my vehicle. Of course, I know that the hotel will take care of this, but I am still a little frustrated that after all the work of registering my plate, (when I just wanted to settle in) I still got a parking ticket. So I left, and went to eat, but when I came back not only did I have to argue this parking ticket... there was no room in the underground parking! I had to park outside, all the way around back, in minus 25 weather.

Awful Experience

I reserved a room for 2 nights through online travel website. When I arrived at the hotel in the evening to check in, I was told that the hotel was full. I questioned them that it was already paid for and how could this happen. All they could do was kept on saying ""We had no room for you tonight"" and they had to send me to another hotel for the night. They ended up sending me to a ""Best Western"" type of hotel 30 minutes from town. I was too tired and had no energy to argue. The next day when I checked in for my second night, I was told that they will enroll me in their reward program and give me points for one free night and the membership card would be there when I checked out the next day. And of course, when I checked out, there was no such thing. I had a flight to catch and simply did not have the time to fuss around with bad service. May be we cannot just complain about overbooking with airlines. At least the airline asked for volunteers to give up their seats and get compensated for the inconvenience.

Terrible Hotel - Overpriced, Overcharged

The staff was friendly but the hotel was overpriced. My room was not stocked with enough towels or robes for two guests. A call to the front desk took more than 15 minutes to bring up another towel - but they brought up a bath robe instead. Also, there was open food in the fridge and the hotel charged me for taking food from the fridge when I didn't. Absolutely a terrible experience. The hotel didn't properly make-up the room or stock it and then charged me for their mistake. Their attempt to correct the mistake resulted in them making yet another mistake. I expect more from a $ Motel 6 and this hotel couldn't even live up to those low expectations.
