"I have stayed at Fairmont hotels all over the world and love them. The setting and architecture of Fairmont is wonderful and the Chateau Laurier is magnificent. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience this time around. Specifically the disappointments were around the staff. The front desk told us they would make reservations for us each day at the on site pub restaurant, but failed to do so. No big deal the first time. When we checked into the restaurant and could not get the table, we asked them to make us a reservation for the next 3 days, which was not done. We also attended the Emilia's restaurant attached to the Fairmont and after we were seated it took 30 min to get someone to attend to us, then once they did, they forgot our order and never returned after another 20 min and then we finally gave up and left. The Michelin rated restaurant on site also let us down as their service levels were so long that they ultimately ended up giving us most of the meal on the house, which was very nice of them. We also were wanting valet parking but were told they were full and had to park 6 blocks away underground each day. Not the experience we are used to and highly recommend the property manager do a review of service expectations with staff so that the customer's experience can be improved upon. Having run businesses myself, there appears to be a management issue on hiring, training and monitoring staff."
