Sep 23, 2019

Not sure why certain flights must checkin at certain areas to check bags. In Amsterdam we had to go to 1A a long, long way from Where we had claimed our bags at carousel 15 in Terminal 3.

Tell passengers at check in that they will cross the border in Oslo, if applicable.

Sep 11, 2019

It would be nice if the airline could offer a free snack/one drink to passengers, instead of passengers having to pay for all food. Other than that, the flight was fine.

Sep 8, 2019

Food was poor on my trip from sfo to Copenhagen but a week later meal much improved from Oslo to sfo.

Please note that SAS passengers check in and drop baggage at Luftanza counters in Frankfurt.

Good for a quick inter Europe flight. The flight was late by about 20 minutes, though.

The price was about U$50 Helsinki to Oslo. Boarding was a mess, (they told people to use the back entrance, but it was unclear how to get there). One had to pay for drink, and the baggage was slow to arrive, but for $50 I didn't care.

What airport is best to fly into Oslo?

Home to two airports, you've got options when jetting into Oslo. Think about where you'll be staying and spending a lot of your time, as this may help you settle on which flights you book. Oslo Airport (OSL-Gardermoen) is 22 miles from all the action downtown, while Sandefjord Airport (TRF-Torp) is about 53 miles away.

Where to stay in Oslo

Oslo is a diverse city with almost endless things to do and places to see. And to experience them all you'll need somewhere comfortable to lay your head. You'll find 445 properties to select from in Norway's thriving capital.

It's not every day you go on vacation, so why not treat yourself to a little luxury? The Comfort Hotel Grand Central and the Clarion Hotel The Hub are a few of the top upmarket properties available in the area. That said, you wouldn't go on vacation to stay in your room all week. If you're searching for a cheaper option, try the Saga Poshtel Oslo Central or the Perminalen Hotel.

If you've never been to Oslo Opera House before, don't put it off any longer! Make the most of your stay and reserve a place to sleep within strolling distance. The Luxurious Apartment by Oslo Central / Opera With Amazing View and the BJØRVIKA APARTMENTS, Opera Area, Oslo city center are some recommended options.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Oslo

Your journey to Oslo starts as soon as you've finished all the security checks. We've compiled a list of helpful tips and hints to make sure you get through quickly:

  • Be sure you know the whereabouts of your passport and boarding pass. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to present them.
  • It's useful to know that metal belt buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you're wearing one, you may be asked to take it off before proceeding.
  • Ensure your laptop, phone and other electronic devices are easy to reach. These items need to be put through the X-ray machine in separate tubs.
  • Face cream, toothpaste and other toiletry items in liquid, gel or cream form need to be stored in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They must also fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear zip-lock bag.
  • Airport security personnel will likely tell you to remove your shoes for the body scanner. Wear a pair that you can take off easily. There's nothing more annoying than having to do your laces up over and over again.
  • The list of prohibited items is forever updating. Have a look at your airline's official website for what is not allowed on board their aircraft.

Flights To Oslo

As the breathtaking Oslo Fjord winds north from the Skagerrak Strait, mountainous islands extend from the water and cliffs tower on either side like a scene from “Lord of the Rings.” In Oslo, you can sip on local spruce juice and dine on fresh seafood as you admire these seemingly unexplored vistas just a stone’s throw away. Fly into Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport (OSL) for amazing landscapes and maritime culture like no other (Vikings, anyone?).

Transportation From OSL

Your flight to Oslo will land 30 miles north of the city center, but convenient transportation options abound. If your destination lies elsewhere, book a hotel near Gardermoen Airport and get some rest before continuing your journey on one of the many trains running to other parts of the country. To get into the city, take the Airport Express train to Central Station; for a slower but cheaper ride, the bus from the airport is a good option. Rental cars are available on the arrivals level, as are taxis; see the taxi information desk to book a cab, but be aware that they can be expensive. While cheap flights to Oslo leave you plenty of krone, there are better ways to get around. Once you’re in the city, get rid of the gas guzzler and rent a bike with the city’s convenient public bike service. You can also embrace the maritime theme and take ferries to many local attractions or go island-hopping in the bay.

Explore the Tigerstaden

Oslo’s odd nickname of “The City of Tigers” is just the beginning of the unexpected folklore and history you’ll find in this off-the-beaten-path vacation gem. Make another special discovery with Travelocity’s great deals on flights to Oslo. Bundle and save with our Oslo vacation packages and get ready for the endless summer—for a few months each year, the sun never sets on Norway.
