Everything here is great! We lost hat and sunglasses, they found for us. Really appreciate! Only one thing needed to improve, which is the faucet in the wash room always turns lesser water by itself. But that is not a big issue. We still want to give this place a five star rating.

This hotel was amazing ! It was in the perfect location , walking distance to many restaurants and attractions. The hotel itself had alotttt of amenities . There were two restaurants attached to it that were delicious and super esthetic. It have a laundry room , game area , tv room, multiple meeting offices , and it was self service which I love !

If you’re looking for function over service, this is the place for you. Check in is via self service screens, where you’re given a card to operate the lift and open your hotel room door. There is plenty of shared space on the ground floor to work or meet new people. There are vending machines for snacks and drinks. All of it self operated. The room itself was really good value and plenty of space for just me! The bed was comfortable, the sheets and towels were clean and the location of the hotel was perfect. I would highly recommend for any young solo travellers staying for a couple of days.

You need to tap your card key to lock your door -- unlike every other hotel in the world where you just close your door. Needs bigger bathrooms and they could provide more bath products such as soap and shampoo / body wash.

Bare Essentials But Cheap For Oslo

City Box is a basic hotel but it's clean and central to Oslo. Some of the fixtures and fittings could use an upgrade, the bed/mattress was a bit basic and creaky and the shower head could have been better, but if you're only resting your head then that's not a huge deal. You check in with a code (that I didn't have because my email service was being slow), but there are helpful staff on hand if you need help. And all the staff I saw were polite and friendly. The hotel has a partnership with a few nearby eateries and you can get money off breakfast or dinner, though I didn't use any of them. At first glance they still looked a little pricier than I, as a cheap backpacker, wanted to pay. Maybe I should have looked harder as I did find food prices in Oslo to be high anyway. The hotel is extremely central in Oslo - 5 minutes walk to the train station - and there are many choices of shopping, eating or visitor attractions close by. It is a hotel I will look to use again if I return to Oslo.

Upon checking in, we immediately noticed that the tap in the toilet sink was loose, and the handle had completely fallen off. We had to make our way down to the reception to show them a video of the broken tap before they finally agreed to move us to a new room located in a different building. With only 2 nights in Oslo, we had little time to waste. Upon returning in the evening, we discovered that the ventilation was not functioning. We had no choice but to open the window for the night, which was quite disruptive given the noise from the street, especially being on the 6th floor. The next morning, we addressed the issues with the receptionist, who asked us to demonstrate the problem. However, we had a full day planned, including a museum visit, so we requested that he check it for us. Later, we spoke to another receptionist on shift, who dismissed our concerns, claiming there was nothing wrong with the ventilation as noted. Reluctantly, we returned to our room only to find that the ventilation worked for an hour and then stopped again—no adjustments to the controller made any difference. This led to another night of us having to open the window for air. This situation is unacceptable and should be addressed promptly.
