How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Halifax

Make your trip to Halifax a little bit easier by following these helpful tips and pointers:

  • Security personnel will expect to see your boarding pass and passport at the checkpoint. Have them in a convenient place, so they're ready for inspection.
  • USB sticks, wallets and keys must be placed in a tray for X-raying. If you pass through the body scanner with any one of these items, you'll be asked to turn back and remove them.
  • Laptops and other electronic devices must be placed in a tray to be X-rayed.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to place all creams, liquids and gels in a separate bin for inspection. Make sure they're all packed in containers smaller than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Untie your shoelaces before approaching the body scanner. Depending on what sort of shoes you've got on, security may ask you to take them off.
  • Multi-tools and corkscrews are not permitted on board the plane. Pack them in your checked luggage to avoid them being confiscated at the security checkpoint.
