Aug 28, 2019

while checking in counter they told me that I didn't add what type of document I have. Since I didn't see a field in the website that specified the type of my travel ID this would be an issue in the future.

Aug 9, 2019

We couldn't check-in online, even though the email reminder said you could. Just come early to the airport to check-in.

How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Beijing

If you like the idea of spending more time at the airport bars and restaurants and less time wading through security on your way to Beijing, follow these useful tips:

  • Airport security personnel will expect to see your passport and boarding pass as part of their checks. Tuck them away in a convenient place, so they're ready for inspection.
  • It's helpful to know that belts with metal buckles can set off the body scanner's alarms. If you have one on, you may be told to step back and remove it before moving forward.
  • Laptops and other electronic devices must be placed in a bin to be X-rayed.
  • Traveling with a new perfume or cologne? As long as it's no greater than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's placed in a clear resealable plastic bag, you can keep it in your carry-on luggage.
  • Hiking boots and other bulky shoes are likely to be X-rayed. We suggest wearing lightweight sneakers instead.
  • The list of prohibited items is forever updating. Have a look at your airline's official website to find out what is not allowed on board their flights.
