Overall I enjoyed staying here. I didn’t appreciate the long line to get on the wait list for the steak house restaurant, which was overall the best of the restaurants. Also, our toilet in the room was difficult to flush. The property is quite large and pretty crowded. I enjoyed the ocean view from our room.

The buffet was great at every meal! There is definitely a party pool and then more family friendly pools. They are weird about the towels so make sure you count the towels and cards each time you exchange them and don’t lose your towel. The beds in the rooms were uncomfortable and there were not enough bathrooms near the restaurants/event spaces. But the wait staff were so nice and the place was super clean and well maintained. I thought the check in staff could’ve been nicer and more helpful.
The nightly entertainment was really great especially the acrobats and the abba show

Bar tenders Tony and Armando were so fun - the others were very dead and dry to talk to. The resort building its self is massive and very clean. The food was good. Wasn’t anything exciting or great but it was good. Entertainment was good - no night life though. Every show ended at about 9-10pm then that’s it. Would be nice if there was a club or somewhere to go dancing at night. Overall had a great time here - beach is lovely just really busy, same with the swim up bar - EXTREMELY packed. We had the best maid names Laura. Loved her. Would recommend this place for families for sure!!

Había cucarachas en las mesas del buffet le dijimos al mesero y nos cambió de mesa, al día siguiente una cucaracha estaba en mi plato!!! Asqueroso!! Fuimos a reportarlo y lo que nos dijeron es que “era NORMAL”!!! Porque las mess estaban al “aire libre” No quiero imaginarme como ha de estar o cocina infestada de cucarachas!!!

Very disappointing stay. I would not return. We’re a family of four (two adults, two preteens), and we’ve stayed at Riu resorts before, including Riu Cancun, and had great experiences. This trip, however, to Riu Puerto Vallarta was extremely disappointing. We arrived late at night traveling from Vancouver. We had called the hotel twice in advance to confirm our late arrival and to make sure our room would be held. At check-in, the staff member casually acknowledged the notes saying we had called, but then told us they hadn’t held the room. We waited about 30 minutes while they tried to “find something,” and eventually we were given a very small room with one king bed and told that the four of us could sleep in it. We were honestly shocked that this was even suggested. They added one extra bed the first night and another on the second night, but the room became so cramped that we literally had to climb over beds to move around. This is not what we expected, especially for a trip we planned months in advance. Food was also disappointing. While there was plenty available, the overall quality was average at best, and the red meat, in particular, was very poor quality. Considering we paid about $800 per night, this was by far the worst resort experience we’ve had. I’m sharing this so others are aware and can rethink before booking. I will add photos if possible.

Very clean, friendly staff, great atmosphere, nice rooms. Good entertainment. They can work on their restaurant system for dinners, You can’t book, so end up lining up for an hour to get seated.

Breakfast was great and having four pools and beach access was great and convenient. My room was over looking the ocean and very beautiful. Staff was great especially dining and bartenders. The room was cleaned when ever I wanted it and maid service was great.
