Hotel Route Inn Anan
"Good digs if you need a place close to the rail line. It’s not bad, just super small rooms. Suppose it’s less of a big deal if you are Japanese. Still a pretty new place and clean. Breakfast bar is maybe not the best for a western pallet. Felt like I was just hammering carbs."

"What we liked: - location, close to several places to eat and several supermarkets, - the disposition of the toilet, the shower and the sink, they were all separated and it’s very convenient when traveling with 2 teenagers (and in general), - the two mail living rooms, the ones with the tatami were ..."

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa
"This is a moderately priced all inclusive type resort with good views that is very popular with Japanese families with young children. Most people drive. The half board option is good because you get great breakfast and dinner buffets. I was reminded of the buffets in Las Vegas. The food is a big selection of Awaji specialties, Japanese food, and many international dishes, as well as beer and other drinks. This is a very crowded hotel. Line queue registration is used to manage entry to the buffet area. This is not a secluded, quiet resort. The spacious onsen includes a big outdoor bath and a big relaxation area with drinks. The onsen staff manages it very well. The main attraction in this area is the Naruto whirlpools. Public transportation is limited to buses. So you come here for the hotel and the whirlpools."
