Scottish Inn or Scottish Sin

Pros: Cheap price and location
Cons: Should be cleaner and needs to be updated. Beds are poor. Cleaning staff is not always changing sheets between customers.
Location: Near highways and airport
booked at the Scottish Inn & Suites because it was cheap and I only needed somewhere to sleep near work for the night. Additionally, I thought something with a Scottish flair would be interesting while helping out a local business. Well there is nothing Scottish about this Indian owned and operated establishment but that was not the issue... All I needed was a comfortable bed and a clean room. I asked for a king bed but got two double beds, also not an issue. The room looked dated and somewhat rundown, not great but not the worst thing. One bed had all the underneath support slats broken except the end ones resulting in a U shaped mattress as the center sagged almost to the floor, that is bad but I only need one bed. So onto the other bed...this is where it gets bad....the other bed had a pair of girls underwear in between the sheets. Not a fresh looking pair either. Meaning to me the sheets were not changed. Totally gross. Most of the other clientele of this motel seemed sketchy so who knows what the deal is here. Obviously I will not stay or recommend. Spend a few extra bucks and go to a national chain.

I was cheap -- my fault!

Pros: They're renovating -- I saw that they're making an effort -- so it should get better.
Cons: see above
Location: Anyone looking for a room in the area knows the attractions.
Yes - I booked the cheapest room in the area I wanted to stay... at check in the clerk was finishing a call telling the caller that he offered a 3 hour rate of $50-... I checked the room for bugs and odors and decided to stay... I decided the splash on the tv screen (big flat screen!) was beer --- cleaned that and the greasy hand print and stains on the front of the fridge --- then didn't like the sound of my sneakers sticking to the bathroom floor so I cleaned that too. The bed was comfy. The teenagers in the hall stopped giggling around 2am -- so I finally slept.

Not recommended

I would of rather slept in our car. It's a good thing I had Lysol spray and Clorox wipes.

Police told us not to stay there - should have listened!!!!!!

Cons: bed bugs, dirty, slow internet, poor management, low class clientel
Local Allentown police advised this was the worst hotel in Allentown. Full of "party" people. We stayed anyway for the cheap rate. If your ok with being afraid to leave your room at night, dirty bathrooms, body eating itchy bed bugs, ignorant staff members and the slowest internet connection in the world, then this is the place for you!!! By far the worst place I ever stayed!!! Police told us to check out the license plates in the parking lot b/c most of the cars are from Allentown,PA! They go there to party. You get what you pay for!! Lesson learned.

beware

Arrived late to no hot water that evening. Shower was cold, room was ok but not very clean Next morning I stated about the shower but no action was taken. Typical I don't care attitude by the owner. Won't stay there again.

Great Economy Hotel

Pros: Close restaurants
Its a great economy hotel. Outside entrances and ok rooms. But, its clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Good Location, movies, food, and shopping. If you are on budget or roll into town last minute and need a place to stay. This is the place.

A Nice Place To Stay

I was very satisfied with the room. They were clean and looked to be newly renovated. There were many places of interest within 30 minutes of the the facility to take my family to. The staff was courteous and accommodating. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants a well maintained room at a bargain price. The price was approximately 1/3 the price of other establishments. The only dislike I had, was my room wasn't cleaned on one of the days. That may have been due to miscommunication, it was resolved right away after notifying management. ***Note: Don't forget to take down the 'Do Not Disturb' sign when leaving out, otherwise the room won't get clean unless you verbally tell the housekeeper on the floor that your room needs to be cleaned***

Avoid This Place At Any Time!

The room, although large, was filthy. There was not even any hot water to take a shower until the next morning - and the hotel was not even concerned about that either after I told them about it. The breakfast eating area had totally empty juice dispensers and three of the four table tops were not even connected securely to the table legs - requiring me to take my breakfast back to the room to eat it so I could at least set it down. The location is very noisy being at the intersection of two major roads. There were also several "questionable characters" hanging around the parking lot who appeared to be scoping-out the cars. Across the street is a parking lot for 18-wheelers. All this for $*+ a night?

Needs New Management

SOME of the staff are helpful and curteous while others are lacking in people skills. Mostly the current third shift employees. We had checked in one night around 1 am recently on a Wednesday morning, the shift had started presumably on Tuesday evening and went to Wednesday morning. The front desk clerk was more interested in talking to her friend on the phone than on waiting on us when we arrived. Then she was very discourteous to us through the entire check in processing. However, when we had gotten to our checkout time later Wednesday morning the day staff was quite another story. They were curteous and cordial and took our complaints down and handled the situation well. From what we had seen the managment at Scottish Inns needs to eliminate the bad help on third shift during the week and put some more reliable help in her place. Maybe they could try some better screening of their old employees. When we were being handled by that discourteous woman on night shift, she had told us she had been there for years and was the assistant manager. Maybe she should retire.

I would have rather slept in my car

DON?T STAY HERE! I made reservations for a Non-Smoking room with a Kingsize bed. When we arrived at the hotel the reservation clerk told me that all the Kingsize rooms were gone but she could give me a room with 2 double beds for the same price! We left to visit family without going to the room (BIG mistake). When we arrived back at the hotel at 9:30pm the 1st thing we noticed was that there were no rooms marked as non-smoking. Our room smelled like someone had just put out a cigarette but there were no ashtrays so I guess it was ?non-smoking?. The outside wall of our room was located about 35 feet from a busy highway that had truck traffic all night long and it sounded like you were outside listening to them. The bathroom?s wallpaper was peeling and there was mildew in all the cracks. On the dresser was a Monroe Muffler flier that had a wad of chewing gum stuck to it and the bathtub was full of hairs (not ours). They claim to have a ?continental breakfast?but this consists 2? x 2? table in the entry way with a plate of Friehoffer Donuts and a pot of coffee with no place to sit to eat and it was too small for more than 2 people to stand.
