Tall trees at Oak Openings Metropark.
Tall trees at Oak Openings Metropark.
There is so much beauty at Oak Openings. Twisted trees and dense forest and deer. Just amazing.
Know all over Ohio as the Ohio PNW tall pine spot, this place doesn’t disappoint. Although I suggest coming when it’s a bit drier out. The mosquitos were ridiculous!! Seriously, bug spray, wrist bands, and a bug zone fan didn’t even come close to stopping these blood suckers!!

Sand dunes in Ohio?! Who knew...

This is the beach left behind 11,000 years ago by the receding waters of Lake Warren. The waters receded back to the current Lake Erie, leaving behind the Great Black Swamp, which measured 120 miles long and 40 miles wide. The one oasis from the muck and the mire was an oak-covered savanna with sand dunes that is now Oak Openings Metropark.
