Upon arrival we noticed that the AC was not working properly. We noticed animal poop in the upstairs jacuzzi tub. After looking around we discovered poop all over the main floor and couches. Some of it had been smushed in as though something stepped or laid on it. It looked like the cabin had been unoccupied for a while so housekeeping came in and only cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen. The bedding was dusty and there was a layer of dust on the remotes, end tables, headboards, etc. While we were waiting to hear back from the cabin rental we heard something scrurrying around up the stairs a few times and found droplets of blood that hadn’t completely dried. After 2 hours of being hot and fussing at my two young children not to walk around barefoot or sit on the couches, we were told that someone was on the way to clean and pest control wouldn’t be there until the next day. We decided we did not feel comfortable staying there. As we were loading up our car one lady showed up at 7pm to clean. I had to reach out Sunday and Monday to request a refund. Management never bothered to follow up with me. When I requested a refund I was told that the problem had been resolved because pest control laid out traps even though they had NOT caught the animal. I had to reach out to my credit card company to get my money back. I’m very disappointed in our experience with this cabin rental. We had a significantly better stay with Heartland Cabins.
