Pros: Nice, spotlessly clean, newly remodeled room. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Cons: Room was very tight. Chair had to sit under TV. Not a useful spot. WiFi not secure. No coffee pot in room. Coffee in office was a walk to outside to get to and very weak. Traffic noise and noise from rooms next door considerable. Putting the fan on helped drown it out. Key card needed reactivation two out of three times needing it, in spite of not putting it anywhere near our phones, as directed. I’m not sure why this motel was rated as “exceptional” by other reviewers.

At this incredibly depressing motel on an apocalyptic strip somewhere between Pittsburgh and the end of all things, we were greeted by a cigarette-reeking geezer who joshed us relentlessly in what he obviously thought was a friendly way but was supremely annoying. Our breakfast alternatives were Denny’s or a local grill that looked so depressing from the outside we didn’t even park. I never actually believed in Purgatory before spending a night at the Jefferson Hills Motel, but I have been converted.
