Enjoyable Experience in Ocho Ríos

We got one of the rooms on the ground floor, close to the bar (no noise after 10pm). One of the best things here was to fall asleep by the sound of the waves, combined with the comfort of our huge king-size bed (although I would mention that a small update to the rooms would be appreciated). Food was also one of the strong points - absolutely delicious! You can see that everything is handmade and fresh, and this includes breakfast, lunch and dinner! Everyone that worked there was very nice, from reception to owners. If you are snorkeling or padel surfing there, and at some point you see something coming out of the water, it's ok, it's probably the same turtles I've seen coming by, specially in the evenings (very cute!). One downside was the wifi, the signal was simply not strong enough, making it impossible to use (we believe some improvements were being made, because on our last day we saw some new wifi names appearing in the options). The most negative point was the access to the hotel, where you have to use the east entrance of the street and when using it, we were aggressively harassed by people that were running some river rafting (one of them came all the way after us to the entrance of the hotel). We found out later that almost all of them were there illegally and on our last days we saw the police "cleaning the area", which we hope for good, because of future guests and for the hotel owners, because it's a very nice place, just needing some work. Enjoy the sunset!

A Decent Stay with Some Room for Improvement Overall, I had a nice time at Sand and Tan Hotel in Ocho Rios. The room was lovely and comfortable, but a few issues held me back from giving a higher rating. The bathroom could definitely use some updating—the shower knobs were quite stiff, which made it a bit difficult to use. The TV in the room also felt outdated. My biggest concern was the lack of reliable WiFi in the room. I was only able to get full access in the reception area or other communal spaces, which made it difficult to get work done during my stay. On the positive side, the music and general ambiance of the property were great. However, my room was located right beside the speakers, so at times it got a bit too loud for comfort. In terms of safety, I had some concerns about the parking situation. The lot felt too open and lacked adequate security. One night, I had to park near a bushy area with very little lighting, which made me uneasy leaving my car there overnight. Despite these drawbacks, the staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service throughout my stay. The breakfast was also delicious and a definite highlight of the trip. With a few upgrades and improvements, this hotel has the potential to be a real gem.

My favorite place to stay in Ochi. I walk out my door and there is the amazing beach. The river is near. Jet skis and fun. The food is delicious!!!!

The property is located on a beautiful beach. However, I would not recommend these accommodation for anyone who cares about their health or cleanliness. The rooms are mouldy and the dampness is repugnant. The linens are less than fresh and smell as if they were washed in the nearby river. There is barely any water coming out of the shower as the leaks and the tub is slippery and obviously dirty shower curtain with grime and dirt at the end of the shower curtain.

It was easy to find , The lady's at front were very nice. The beach side of property is wonderful , the included breakfast was great. The entrance to hotel at the back is a little off putting. I was very concerned at first , but other than that the rooms are nice , the property is great. Clean No complaints .

This was a great hotel, great people, and it has a million $ view and a beautiful beach right in front of your bed room window!!! Also the ocean that connects to the river was such a dream and just a few steps away!!! My major reason for giving it better ratings. And very nice and helpful people taking care of the guests. Food was also great. The restaurant in the hotel had good food to offer. It is not a fancy and luxurious hotel and not new. Keep that in mind. I have a very high standard for cleanliness. It was ok. My only complains: I wish they had a better mattress, because of my bad back. But we managed with the foam cushings from the big chair and made it softer. A microwave in the room would be nice. But we managed with the water kettle. And: some trash will be seen outside the hotel area. The hotel keeps the hotel area clean, but a few steps out, not so much. At night all we heard just the waves from the ocean. BUT, waking up every morning to this million dollar view, and seeing the ocean right from our bed, was worth every minute of it. Make me forget my pains and more. We definitely would come back here again. We had a great stay. Thank you.

Jetzt über die Ostertage sind viele Jamaikaner angereist. Da war dann etwas viel Trubel. Sonst sehr angenehm, die Strandbar zwar etwas laut, aber abends zu guter Zeit ruhig(er). Europäisches oder jamaikanisches Frühstück. Lunch- und Abendessen-Karte nicht ganz günstig, aber für mich als Europäer mit guter Auswahl. Näher am Meer kann ein Hotel nicht sein. Schmaler Strand vor dem Haus, daneben ein Traumstrand. Zufahrt ok, genügend Parkplätze. Sicherheit gewährleistet. Bringe USD mit, für Depot und Eintritte wie z.B. Dunn River Falls.

Spent 4 days there this past March. The view from the balcony of our room was beautiful But room could use more cleanliness Hot water in the bathroom was not hot. The place need a little more tic The pictures online when booking looks amazing but the reality is a little deceiving. If you’re an average traveler needing a place to stay and on budget, this is for you but if you’re looking for something nice well maintained and updated then this is not your style. On the other hand the staff was amazing. From the front counter girl Blu to Miss Janice to Romy to the owner omg they were really nice people We enjoyed interacting with them and everything we ask they did for us. Thank you

If you are looking for affordable, Sand and Tan is the place for you. You got the basics... beach, sun, music and free breakfast! Property appeared to be well managed and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the area to get to the hotel was very undesirable. I wouldn't feel safe leaving the property especially at night.
