The hotels.com agent who helped me went above and beyond to reach out to the hotel and advocate on my behalf. Whomever he spoke with in the hotel's management, reassured the agent that not only would she ensure the reservation dates were revised herself, she would also refund the unused night. Neither of them had to do this. After spending all weekend with my father in the hospital, these acts of kindness and generosity are a testament that there still people out there who believe in the Golden Rule, as I do.
