Britannia Hotel Edinburgh

"I loved this hotel. While the hotel itself is old & tired it faded grandeur shines through and it has a fabulous location along Waters of Leith … a flowing stream in a heavily wooded ravine. Literally right along the wooded walking path which extends along the river. The area is residential and National Trust Museum of Modern Art parklands … there are no shops or restaurants nearby but it is only a 15 minute walk to Haymarket Tram and Rail station which has loads of pubs, restaurants and shops and the Tram line is frequent and efficient. One of the best city public transportation lines I’ve ever seen. The hotel is favoured by bus tours and evenings are busy with the loads of people eating at the buffet and drinking at the bar. If your up for something a little different and like a walk and have a low level of “Snoot Factor” … I heartily recommend. "
