This is a beautiful boutique hotel! The City Market is just steps away! We walked to great restaurants and to the horse stables for our carriage ride. Everything is so close! After a day of sightseeing, we would enjoy a nightcap in the lovely courtyard!

This was our third day in Charleston and our favorite hotel of the three. All three were similar price, but the Emeline was substantially more updated, more comfortable, and definitely had a more modern vibe. The coffee shop was hugely popular. The restaurant was steady with a diverse crowd. So easy to get to all the restaurants and museums.

Great stay!!

Wonderful! Emeline is a beautiful gem of a hotel in what is otherwise a very busy part of Charleston. It feels incredibly boutique-y despite the location. Beautiful decor and top notch service. I asked for a little “something special” for my husband’s birthday and they had champagne and chocolates in the room. Overall, such a great vibe and the people are tremendous!

According to Google and the hefty price , this is a luxury boutique hotel. It is most definitely not. I have stayed in many “boutique” hotels, and while one expects small rooms, the room at this hotel was extremely small, not even having a closet. The only space to hang clothes was a built in rod at the top of the night stand. There were only 2 electrical outlets in the whole room and 1 in the bathroom. On one side of the bed, there was no outlet- so could not charge phone. Also, our garment bags hung down on top of the nightstands so really couldn’t use them anyway. The carpet was visibly dirty with stains. I also noticed our towels and washcloths were dirty, and the one white robe hanging on a hook in the bathroom had a stain on the sleeve. The room temperature did not get below 73. The hallways and lobby sitting areas were also hot. The hallway to our room was dimly lit. I was notified that I had an option for a room upgrade with a courtyard and city view a few days before arriving, so I chose the upgrade and paid extra. However, when we arrived at the hotel, they said there was no upgrade available. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that they had water, ice, and coffee machine available on our floor. There is not a coffee maker in the room. There is a mini fridge and a much bigger than needed TV in my opinion. While this hotel appeared that it had been recently updated, it is not worth the $700/night price tag.

I have never stayed at a hotel so dedicated to creating an incredible experience for its guests. From the moment I arrived at Emeline, I felt genuinely welcomed. The check-in started with a refreshing welcome cocktail, and that level of thoughtful hospitality continued throughout my entire stay. Every detail was so well-considered—from the fun drink tokens and top-notch valet service to the generous meal discounts and a complimentary bottle of champagne to help celebrate a birthday. The staff were truly exceptional—warm, attentive, and always going the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. The rooms were absolutely beautiful. Spacious, impeccably maintained, and styled with such charm that it felt like a luxurious home away from home. I was genuinely sad to leave. I’m already looking at dates for another trip to Charleston, just so I can stay at Emeline again. It was truly an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you, Emeline!
