Staff are so welcoming and friendly. Bar food menu is excellent. Rooms are beginning to look tired and need updating, especially the shower and carpets. The front entrance looks spectacular with pots and hanging baskets in abundance. Gardener deserves the highest commendation for the trimmed topiary and flowers. However, all staff make your stay extra special as nothing is too much trouble. Definitely the best place to stay in Cwmbran.

What we liked: Nice property with very friendly reception staff especially Pippa. Never used the spa and swimming facilities but it’s great this is on offer for all residents. What could be better: Lounge bar does not serve coffee after 9pm. Food in the lounge bar could be better. What we didn’t like: Breakfast at £31 Food in the Ravelles restaurant is overpriced.

Avoid

This was a terrible stay and we wouldnt go back again. The room was filthy, dust covered all frames, the plug socket was hanging off by the bed dangerously, the floor had two sweets wrappers on it and hadnt been hoovered at all. At dinner we ordered a beef burger and chicken burger which came to £33. They were grim, the beef burger was grey and the chicken was a dry tasteless and something you wouldnt feed to a dog. I got vinegar but in both bottles appeared to be dead bugs. See pic. The shower had no power and the shampoo dispenser was hanging off. Drains smelt awful and it stank like poop in there. The cream cakes from the day before were still in the cabinet in the morning. Breakfast was equally disgusting, and everything was dirty, which resulted in just eating a yoghurt. Lastly the bed was so uncomfortable and because nothing was clean we slept on top. Would never go back. Avoid.
