Reviewer Comments: Our stay at Casa Dos Palmas in Akumal, Mexico was absolutely incredible—truly a 5-star experience from start to finish.We traveled as a group of four adults and three children, and one of the biggest highlights of our trip was Hugo and Eunice, who prepared both breakfast and dinner for our family and friends throughout spring break. The food was consistently amazing, and they went above and beyond to accommodate everyone’s needs—especially the kids. By the end of the trip, they honestly felt like part of our family.The home itself is stunning—beautifully designed, spacious, and very comfortable. Every bedroom having AC made a huge difference, and the airflow throughout the main living area kept everything feeling cool and fresh. The fact that all the rooms face the ocean made it even more special.We especially loved the pool area in the back of the house, which stays shaded until early afternoon—a lifesaver in the heat and perfect for relaxing during the hottest part of the day.Another unexpected highlight for the kids was the yard, which was full of hermit crabs and iguanas. They had so much fun gently chasing and catching them, and of course always releasing them right after—it became a daily adventure they looked forward to.While the beach directly in front of the house wasn’t really swimmable due to being very rocky, and the nearby town beaches were also filled with sargassum seaweed during our stay, Scott, the host, was incredibly helpful and attentive. The same beach can be accessed for free if you enter from the beach side near the house, but if you enter from the town side, there is a $7 per person access fee.We spent most of our time enjoying the house, but we did venture out a couple of afternoons—to the beach and to a nearby monkey sanctuary, which I highly recommend visiting.Despite the seaweed conditions, this was one of those tr"

"Absolutely amazing!! I had such a good experience for our honeymoon. Everything felt extremely safe. They respected our privacy. The food was amazing and the resort was absolutely beautiful. "

"Not quite ready for prime time. We had premium rooms and thus the special check in and concierge. Difficult to communicate with over email prior to arrival and no better in person. One day the gym was FILTHY! No towels, no water, no wipes, HOT. No one had checked in for hours. Concierge seemed confused about issue. Making dinner reservations with her was painful. Excellent yoga program. Food at reservation only restaurants is good. Buffet etc mediocre. Breakfast was a sh*! show—tons of staff there, many idling together and chatting and nearly a full contact sport to get coffee, water and a place setting. Buffet staff are an organizational disaster. Grounds are nice. Rooms large and nice. Maid service spotty. No one seemed to notice a drawer in my room had completely come off. So some nice things but you likely can do better for the price."

Cleaning and pool maintenance staff was fantastic and Rhett the property manager gave us lots of great advice on where to, where to eat etc. Thank Rhett. Was a pleasure meeting you. The backyard pool area is like an oasis. Beautiful pool and a great bonus was the hot tub. My girlfriend and I loved it. Restaurants in the area are very good. We rented a golf cart to make it easy to get around Akumal village but it is walkable. You can eat everything from pizza and burgers to fine dining steaks seafood and Italian. The house is very well appointed. We ate out half of the time and cooked our own meals the other half. If you want to do that just stop at one of the grocery stores on the way - food is all you need! The bbq and kitchen appliances including an espresso maker are all there for your own use. There is a separate casita in the backyard which would be great for another couple or kids. Overall it was a great experience. I’ve been to riviera maya many many times but always at a resort. I preferred the flexibility of renting the house. Eat what and when you want, mot have watered down alcohol etc. Had a great time. Mucho gracias! Booking is very easy and very professional, everything you need to know is emailed to you. From the initial booking to our final exit, the experience could not have been better. The concierge service answered all our questions and was super helpful. The location could not have been better. It was walking distance to everything, from the pueblo, to the colectivo, to the beach, to plenty of restaurants and shopping.Upon arrival, Scott provided a welcoming space. The bedrooms, living area, kitchen were beyond our expectations. The bedrooms where spacious with plenty of room for our clothes, and belongings. Every bed was comfortable. Each bathrooms was also spacious. The living areas had plenty of seating, light, air, and were beautifully decorated with minimal knick knacks - important in the presents of small children! The kitchen was outstanding. All the pots and pans we needed, plus plenty of dishes. the stove and fridge were huge! It was nice to have those little extras, like paper towel, napkins and tin foil. And to mention the coffee bar! A great touch. Outside, the grounds were immaculate, the pool pristine. There were so many places to just sit outside, relax, take in the beautiful surroundings, watch the sunrise, the sunset, or just listen to the birds. Of special note are Pedro and Quetti, who were so meticulous, and respectful with their housekeeping and grounds maintenance. They were diligent without being intrusive. While our family of 10 tried to stay tidy, Pedro and Quetti kept everything sparkling.Thank you for helping us make a vacation that we will all remember for years to come."

"It would be beneficial to have an on site to help with issues incurred during the visit. We were held up on admission to the apartment because we did not have the symbol required by security for admission. Our flight left in the morning of 2/2/26 before we received this notification . Once at the premises we had no wi-fi to retrieve this information. We waited close to two hours in our car before this issue was resolved."
