This property is conveniently located with access to multiple forms of public transportation.

Dash Bus: DASH is a local bus service that is free to riders. It travels all over Alexandria, but will not take you into DC. You can hop on the Dash Bus just a few feet from the front door in both directions.

WMAT Bus: If you were to take a WMAT bus which travels around Northern VA and DC, you would have to either use your phone, acquire a smartrip card, or have exact change on the bus itself.

Metro: We are located a little less than a mile from the King Street Metro Station and a little over 1 mile to the Braddock Street Station. There is a bus stop nearby for the free Alexandria city bus (Dash) that runs directly to the Metro stop. {Trains: Blue and Yellow Lines}. It would take you less than 5 mins by car and probably 15-20 mins to walk it if the weather was nice.

Amtrak: Amtrak provides interstate travel and also has a stop at King Street. If headed north, the next stop after King Street is Union Station in Washington DC. Please check their website for schedules and available stops.

King Street Trolley: You’re about 1 block to King street to pick up the Trolley. The King Street Trolley runs every 15 minutes between Alexandria City Hall/Market Square and the King St – Old Town Metrorail station from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, including holidays.

**There are also ample Uber and Lyft rides in the area.

PARKING:
There is paid street parking available all over OldTown, download the Parkmobile app if you plan to park around town...although you can walk everywhere from here. There is a paid parking garage over on Cameron street (2 blocks) in between Pitt and Royal as well an open air lot west on Cameron about 4 blocks should you need additional parking. You can park directly out in front of the home for 2 hours. Quite honestly I've never seen anyone ticketed after 2 hours, regardless of the time spent, but please keep in mind you're parking there at your own risk should you exceed 2 hours.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Cancellation policies vary by booking platform. For direct bookings and VRBO, credit card processing fees are non-refundable in cases where a full refund applies. Refer to the booking platform for full cancellation terms.

Fantastic Base to Explore the Washington DC Area

We booked this house for a week-long stay to visit attractions in the Washington DC area. I would definitely book this house again! The house is on a quiet street, about 5 minutes walk from the restaurants and bars of downtown Alexandria. And Alexandria is an attractive, walkable alternative to staying in Washington DC. To get into DC we could take Uber (15 minutes, 8-15 depending on time of day) or walk 15 minutes to the Metro. There is also a water taxi from the Alexandria waterfront which we did once. There is also an Enterprise car rental in Alexandria for taking longer trips into VA and the surrounding countryside, and of course Alexandria is super close to Reagan National Airport which also has car rental (we flew into Dulles which was a 40 min Uber ride but National would be a 10 min ride to this house. The house is well equipped for cooking (although we ended up making good use of the wonderful restaurants within a few minutes walk of the house...) and having 3 bedrooms was a win for the kids. Having access to the washing machine allowed us to travel light. The hosts are responsive and communicative. All in all a great experience.

Perfect Location

Had a terrific stay in Alexandria and the location could be better. House was very clean upon our arrival. Beds were comfortable and plenty of linens provided. The host were very engaged throughout the entire process and always responded very quickly to any questions or concerns. Would for sure stay here again. The house was only a couple blocks from King Street and a Trolley Pickup. It made exploring the area super easy.

Family wedding

We had a wonderful trip. The house was in a great location, it suited our needs, and the parking was a breeze. We enjoyed the separation of a bedroom on the bottom floor and the other bedrooms on the top floor. Gave everyone a little sense of privacy. We would definitely rent this home the next time we're in Washington DC.

Exceptional property at a great location

This is an exceptional property in the heart of Old Town close to anything you could possibly want to do. Communication was top notch, check in was a breeze, and listing was 100% accurate. The hosts were accommodating and exceeded our expectations. There were four of us (two adults, teen, and toddler) and we had plenty of room for everyone. Kitchen was well stocked and ample space and equipment to cook if that’s your thing. If not, there are dozens of great restaurants nearby for dine in or takeout. Parking can be challenging in the area. The hosts provided some suggestions if street parking wasn’t available. Adjust expectations accordingly. Old Town is a popular spot, and wasn’t built back in the day for a ton of cars.

Absolutely perfect

The owners of this historically stylish home have thought of everything from a guest perspective. From extremely detailed and helpful pre-arrival info, to comfy bed, great water pressure in the shower, cooking / dining accoutrements, the binder with restaurant and activity suggestions (the ones we tried were great and as described). Even the coffee and condiments, including individual creamers in the fridge. They respect your privacy, but you know they are there if you need them. We were a little concerned about parking, but it was no problem. Convenient street parking next to the house to unload bags and a reasonably priced parking facility about 1.5 blocks away. We lived a couple of blocks from this house 20 years ago and the neighborhood is just as charming as remembered. We would 1000% recommend.

Beautiful condo, beautiful town

Everything was perfect. My mom and I stayed 3 days for an upcoming White House tour. Location perfect: About 4 blocks walking distance from the harbor where u can catch the ferry to the Wharf, National Harbor in MD or Georgetown. Two blocks away from the free dash bus or historical trolley which will take you on a 15 min ride to King street station where you can catch the direct blue line to DC. With public transport and wait times for the bus and train, we still Made it to DC White House stop (federal triangle station) in about 45-50 min total time. Restaurants, cute gift shops, ice cream parlors all within walking distance. Queen street Spite house (one of the narrowest house in the US) a block and a half away. This VRBO rental was so cute with many towels, laundry detergent and everything you would need for a stay. Everything works on their smart TVs. We parked in the parking lot 2 blocks away. For 3 nights I paid about 33 dollars to leave my car there while I walked everywhere or took public transportation. The hosts greeted us with a bottle of wine. One of the best VRBO rentals I ever stayed!
