Hotel was very conveniently located.

Pros: The staff including the receptionist, concierge, car parkers and the restaurant staff in Cucina were all exceptional.
Cons: Our room was stuffy, not air conditioned. The first night sleeping was uncomfortable. They installed a portable AC unit the next day.
Location: We were close to lots of good restaurants, the ski museum and walking paths along Gore Creek.
Our room was fine and the hotel grounds were fine. The hotel was in a super location. We ate breakfast at Cucina everyday. We found the menu to be very creative and different. The food and wait staff were great. The service in the hotel was above and beyond.

Oldest Hotel in Vail, and it Shows.

Pros: If you want to explore Vail Village, the location is decent.
Location: Shopping, skiing, hiking, fishing.
Was in Vail for a conference, unfortunately the main hotel was full and the Lodge was one of the alternate locations. I choose it over a well known chain. I knew that it was older and in the mountains but I didn't expect the room I got. I ended up on a 1st floor room in the interior courtyard with a view of nothing more than the pool. There was no air conditioning in the room and since it was on the interior courtyard, no breeze. Since it was also on the first floor with no separation from the pool you choices were to either leave your windows open with a fan on and hope nothing was stolen, or close your windows and return in the evening to a hot box. Also, if happened to be in your room before 10 pm, you had the pleasure of listening to everyone in the pool. Also, all parking is Valet and since the shuttle service was sporadic, I was forced to drive the 3 miles to the other resort. That would have been ok since the other resort had parking, but I had several occasions when it took almost 20 minutes for someone to retrieve my car, or even just give me my keys.

Would I recommend? Yes for location, No if you have certain expectations.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: housekeeping
This hotel is in a great location and the first few days went very well, but service went downhill after that. The room decor could be nicer, but that's a matter of taste/style. The biggest issue with the room is that it has baseboard heat with no thermostat or central air. There is just a knob adjustment that could mean anything between freezing and sweltering. If you turn it up in the morning because the room is too cool you will find it too warm by afternoon. We opened the windows at times to adjust the temp, but it's too cold and too loud to leave them open for long. I marked the bed comfort as only fair because while the bed itself was fine the room was simply too hot to sleep comfortably without waking. Our main issues were service. Housekeeping in particular. Not everyone in our group skis so we purposely plan a time that everyone will be out of the room so that housekeeping can take care of everything and we call to let them know we will be away and would like service. This worked well the first few days, but today we called to request service, letting them know we would be out of the room. We returned 2 hours later and nothing had been done. We called the front desk and they apologized and said it would be taken care of immediately. We returned an hour later and still no housekeeping. I find it difficult to relax among unmade beds and dirty dishes, but that is the current situation. The restaurant (Elways) also has a weird reservation policy that if you have more than 4 people in your party (we have 5) they will only seat you before 6:15 or after 8pm. I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish but I don't appreciate being told when I can have dinner. It's not easy to get everyone off the mountain, showered and changed for dinner by 6 and 8:30 is too late for those who are tired from skiing all day. The spa is very nice. We had a couple of service issues, but I will give them credit for fixing those problems immediately, unlike other departments of the hotel.

Fantastic location

Couldn't have been better. Highly recommend. Stayed in a Luxury room with balcony and mountain view. Staff was accomodating and friendly. Excellent location for seeing Vail on foot, so never used the car.

Great Find!

We had a great experience at The Lodge at Vail. The staff was super and very helpful. The studio was a great room with a kitchen, dinning table and large sectional couch. Although I was skeptical, the murphy bed really was comfortable. Overall a great find at a decent price durring the offseason.

Luxury for a steal

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Wow! What a superb value. I got this room (granted, it was the off-season) for a steal, and because it was the off-season, even got a free upgrade. The location is right in the heart of Vail Village, so you can head right out the door to the many shops, restaurants, bars. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. And the room was cozy but still high on luxury. Super comfortable bed, wonderful turn down service, luxuriously fluffy towels and robes, and, best of all ... a towel warmer in the bathroom! Unfortunately, I didn't have more time to try out the spa services as I was only in Vail for one night on business. But I would definitely recommend coming back even when it is not ski season. The air is clean, scenery is beautiful, and accomodations top notch!

The Lodge at Vail

We stayed at The Lodge at Vail during the period 1/12/10-1/16/10. Overall the hotel was very nice but there were some issues. We arrived extremely tired and tried to get to bed early; unfortunately, our room (303) was situated overlooking the drive-up entrance to the hotel and we could hear bell-hops talking loudly with late-arriving customers and with each other until the after midnight. The toilet would bubble and "burp" loudly anytime the rooms near by flushed. This was really annoying. Futher, the shower/tub didn't drian propertly, so we took our first showers standing in about 3-4 inches of water. Also, the piano music from the lounge on the 2nd floor drifted up the stairs and into our room. Needless to say, sleep was hard to come by our 1st nite! We called the next morning and requested a room change and the front desk accomodated our request. The second room, also on the 3rd floor (308) was much more quiet without the problems of our 1st room. Overall, this is a nice hotel and the employees are polite and accomodating. The "delux" room we upgraded to was still really small; I can't imagine what the standard lodge room would be like? The location is the best in Vail...almost at the bottom of the main ski lift. You cannot stay closer to the Vista Bahn lift! I guess one must trade the superb location for a small and expensive room that may be loud and quirky. I would still recommend the Lodge at Vail, but avoid rooms near the lounge and the drive up entrance!
