Although the Fairmont Royal York is advertised as a five-star luxury hotel, my experience was more consistent with a one-star stay. I found hair on the bed when I arrived, which suggests housekeeping standards are not being met. Additionally, my room seemed to have an adjoining door, and I could clearly hear conversations and noise from the neighbouring room even when they were speaking at a normal volume. This lack of soundproofing made it very difficult to rest. Overall, the stay was far below what I would expect from a property of this calibre.
