I typically don’t leave negative reviews, but my recent experience at the Red Roof Inn in Taylor, MI warrants serious attention — especially for other travelers considering long-term stays. Upon check-in, I noticed the hotel was in the middle of a remodel. I witnessed staff throwing out mattresses, which immediately raised red flags. I asked if there had been a bed bug issue, and I was told, very confidently, that there were no pest problems. Unfortunately, this was not true. Two days into my stay, my family and I discovered a live bed bug crawling across our bed. We killed it, took photos and video as evidence, and were forced to go out and purchase our own bed bug spray. When I brought this to the attention of not one, but three different staff members, my concerns were met with complete disregard and unnecessary attitude. No one offered assistance or even acknowledged the seriousness of the situation. The problems didn’t stop there. One night, my young child became ill and vomited all over the bedding and floor. I went to the front desk requesting clean linens or at the very least some basic cleaning supplies. I was told there was nothing they could provide. At 3:00 AM, I had no choice but to go to Walmart to purchase sheets, blankets, and cleaning products just to make the room livable again. At no point was I offered help or support — only indifference. Additionally, there is a particular front desk employee — a heavier-set woman — whose behavior was especially concer

You get what you pay for! Cash deposit required!!

Hotel is undergoing renovation. The rooms are clean and beds are brand new. However, we had no working TV, no toiletries, not even a bar of soap. The shampoo and body wash dispenser in shower were empty. There were kids running around everywhere and it appears that many people may be living there. The office staff were very friendly and as helpful as she could be, but things were beyond her control. Also, be prepared to give them $100 CASH deposit before checking in. I got it back, but wasn't expecting it!

Awesome renovations!

The renovations we saw in our room completely transformed the space into a modern and comfortable stay. I loved the desk and the entire setup. My only concern is that they cheaped out on the bed, it was hard and uncomfortable. Although I love the room now I will likely consider other options.

Absolutely unacceptable

Absolutely disgusting. We left a day early just to go home and avoid having to shower in the disgusting bathroom or sleep on the beds. The room smelled awful and the floor was so dirty it turned our socks/feet black. It smelled awful- like dingy wet clothes and cigarettes- even though it’s supposedly 100% smoke free. The front desk staff was nice enough- but if someone actually cleans those rooms I’d be surprised. The bedding was stained and the amount of dust build up kind of just proves my point. We had to sleep there 1 night and i literally slept on top of some of my clothes to avoid touching the bedding. Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had. I never ever leave reviews, especially bad ones. But whoever is in charge of cleanliness at this red roof does not do their job. I wanted a refund but didn’t even argue about it because I was just so desperate to leave a day early. Gross.
