Quality Inn Stay

Way to many dead bugs on patio door track and out side of door. Furniture on patio was very dirty. Could not sit down until cleaned off. Did not have fan in bathroom.

The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable.

Pros: Free breakfast
The only drawback I found with this hotel was that check-in and breakfast were in a separate building from the rooms. The pool was in yet another building.

Rooms with a view, management with common sense

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet, near ferry terminal
Our rooms were cool and comfortable and had a beautiful view of the Straits and the northern lights. Our various relatives were assigned three adjacent rooms without our having to ask. There were plenty of towels for the number of guests on our reservation. These two things seem like no-brainers but not too many hotels seem to get them right. Yes, it was may fly season! I'm laughing at the other reviews that complained about them. I hate to think what other 'horrors' those folks encountered on their UP vacation!

Good location and clean rooms

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
This hotel has a very good location. It took us about 5 minutes to get to Castle Rock and 1 hour to get to the falls. The ferry to Mackinaw Island it's pretty close too.

Great staff made our stay very enjoyable.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, wonderful view
Nice, clean and spacious room, with very helpful staff. The wonderful view was a surprise bonus. We would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to several friends. Great value.

Customer Service

This hotel has HORRIBLE customer service. Your room was never cleaned, we had to go to the office to get our own towel and such. Out towel broke and we had to go to the office ourselves to get a tool to fix it ourselfs. They will not respond to calls of dissappointment. They say they have a 100% satisfaction gurantee. The owner even blew us off because he had a tee time in 5 minutes. Get hotel from the road, but customer service made me never stay at ANY mainstay hotels in the future.

Pleasant Surprise

This was such a nice place to stay. I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean and I am very, very fussy. It didn't smell musty or moldy at all. The view from the balcony was great. It was nice to be able to sit and look out over Lake Huron. For the price of the room I would definately stay there again. This is the first time in a long time that I didn't need to request a room change because the room smelled bad. The 3rd floor has whirlpool tubs in the rooms. The staff was helpful and very curtious.

LAKEFRONT HORROR

Upon arrival, no one was at the front desk. It was late in the evening, when I arrived. Waited for several minutes for front desk person. He was not friendly,ll but condescending. He was more concerned about who was outside than inside. He questioned me as if I needed to meet requirements to stay there even though I had a prepaid reservation. He decided to assess me additional charges. He could not provide a receipt for the additional charges made to me over and above the prepaid reservation amount. But that was not the worst...the worst thing was as I arrived at my front door after a long evening drive. The front desk attendant gave no clue to what I was about to experience. After he gave me the key, and couldn't provide me with a map of the complex, he disappeared....My room was on the third floor where huge bugs covered the entire door and entry way. It was like a science fiction movie!!!! I couldn't get into the room. I went back down to look for the attendant in the office but he was not around. I wanted to at least get a different room...I just wanted to get out of there and take my changes looking for ANY PLACE ELSE. Considering how expensive the room was, I expected that it would be really nice. It was just an old 70s style room, nothing about it was appealing or special. It did have a balcony , which was suppose to give a ""lakefront"" view. I opened the curtain in the morning but couldn't go outside to use it, certainly not in the evening. In the day you took your chances battling huge locust like bugs!!! This hotel is NOT WORTH THE MONEY

Fast check in, clean room, beautiful view

Check in was fast with printout. Non-smoking room was clean and did not smell bad at all. D?cor was typical hotel pink and green paisley; two chairs and table were on balcony. Beds were very bouncy but not too terrible. Free breakfast included a few cereals, instant oatmeals, doughnuts, muffins, apples, bananas, coffee, tea, cocoa. Computer in lobby with printer for guest use. Pool in separate building 8 foot deep with separate 'hot tub' open 8a-11p. There is no beach access but there is a sandy area and a beautiful view of the marshy shore of the lake, complete with swan families. We left the drapes open and awoke at dawn (5 am) to a picturesque orange/pink sunrise over the silvery blue water. It cost more than we would have liked to paid but felt it was worth it to stay somewhere clean with good reviews.

Wonderful

It was beautiful.... there's a balcony going straight out to the water. When we arrived there were two swans right outside our balcony on the water... we could see fish jumping in the water. The room was very clean (and I'm fussy). There was a continental breakfast in the morning. The pool and hot tub were empty. It was very quiet, private, and romantic. The town's cute, there's a casino down the road, and the fairy that goes to Mackinac city is only one minute away.
