The room was quiet, clean and adequate, the parking situation is rather strange and supervised by Hotel staff members. The hotel itself is very convenient. Too many San Jose bars, restaurants nighttime entertainment.

This location has a Ma and Pa vibe, meaning they are understaffed but try to give a good stay. The room was fine, everything was pleasant. I promise you this place will not be what you expect.

Kind Staff, Run Down

I want to acknowledge that the staff at Hotel Clariana were very kind, helpful, and informative. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again. Hotel Clariana is described as a boutique hotel, but that is not accurate. It is quite old and run down, and has more of a feeling of a motel than a boutique hotel. The doors are locked both for entry (which is standard) and for exit (which seemed odd). They really try to make it a nice experience, but little things like no hand soap in the bathroom (just a travel size of body wash), no door on the closet, and old windows that are beautiful but let in a ton of noise make it a less pleasant experience.

Great location. Room itself was just Ok and on the smaller size. The elevator was not working so we had to carry luggage up to the 5th floor via stairs. The shower had used toiletries left by the last guest. The TV did not work at all. The parking is only in and out until midnight, and then the lot is locked. Overall, the stay was just Ok.

Air con unit in bedroom very noisy so could not use whilst sleeping, room was then hot. Windows, single glazed, extremely noisy from outside. Bathroom floor not particularly clean. Carpet next to breakfast table very sticky, limited fresh breakfast items

Hotel and hotel staff were great at making our stay good and comfortable. The hotel is old but it has a certain charm. However, the city of San Jose and the area around the hotel is unacceptably dirty and full of homeless and drug users. So extremely disappointing of a downtown with an institution of higher learning just blocks away. What is city government doing to keep students safe?

This is a gem of a hotel in downtown San Jose. Staff are wonderful and will go above & beyond to help you. I had a medical emergency while I was there & they were most helpful. Rooms are refurbished and are comfortable.
