Becks Bed and Breakfast
"Beck's Bed & Breakfast is a sweet jewel of a place in a remote region of the Crooked Tree Wildlife Refuge (a birder's paradise). Robert and Becky are warm, incredibly knowledgable hosts and provide a respite from the hustle and bustle of vacation stress and more tourist dense areas. If you love birds ..."

Lamanai Landings Hotel and Marina
"We had a room on the second floor, which had a fabulous view of the lake. The clam chairs were really uncomfortable, though, the back being at an incredibly unnatural angle and hurt my neck; I imagine they're only comfortable to someone already drunk and looking for someplace to pass out. So I do ..."

"one problem is the smell that permeates the air from a nearby sugar cane processing plant. It was very obnoxious, and drove us indoors. Loved the group meeting place, the yoga room, pool was indoors, but very nice. Excellent gym. comfortable and pleasant seating out of doors. Incredible staff"

So I do wish they had an alternative option for those of us not drunk and who want to be able to look at the views more easily. We had dinner in the restaurant one night. Overall the food was good; ordering was a bit frustrating because they were out of a bunch of thing, and since we can't eat shrimp, that left pretty slim pickings. I wound up getting the fettuccine alfredo; I don't remember the menu saying it contained onions, but it definitely startled me with the unexpected crunch, and i was thrown off by the two random pieces of green pepper I found in there as well. Maybe I just didn't read the menu closely; that's on me. I'm fairly sure the green pepper was cross-contamination though. Our waitress seemed not happy in general and specifically with us, so I didn't want to says anything, frankly. Nate, the manager (owner?), was awesome, though, and Huero (sp?) the white dog was so sweet. I didn't catch the other man's name who was working but he was also really nice and always had a ready smile any time he saw us; both always asked is we needed anything and was always ready to help. I would definitely stays there again, I just maybe wouldn't eat there again."
