I came to Rochester (Mayo Clinic) for tests and treatment related to my cancer diagnosis. I was originally planning to stay for 4 days, but it ended up being 2 weeks. Due to the length of my stay here, I feel I am able to give a very thorough and well informed review of this hotel and the performance of its staff. I will start by saying that I am so thankful that I picked this hotel! I can't begin to say enough good things about this hotel and staff, but I will try. First of all, the room was impeccable!. It was so clean that I felt like I was the first guest to ever stay in the room! The room was also very spacious! The full-size refrigerator was spotlessly clean and most helpful for such a long stay. The microwave worked very well and was also spotless inside. The TV worked perfectly without having to press extra buttons to get to the channels. The hotel was very quiet, which was great for me with the fatigue I was experiencing. Room service was provided as needed. All staff I encountered were professional, courteous, compassionate, and helpful. Everyone made me feel welcome and appreciated. The hotel manager is also fantastic! He was so kind and understanding of my situation! He did everything in his power to make my stay as pleasant as possible. He is the best! Whenever I return to Mayo, I will not consider staying anywhere else but this hotel. I will never forget my experience at this Candlewood Suites and the outstanding staff I encountered!

Big rooms with well appointed mini kitchen. Concession stand has real food, not just snacks. Exercise room has good cardio equipment

I booked a 2 queen bed room and prepaid for the room upfront. When we checked in, we were told that they had over booked and given all of the 2 queen bed rooms away and all they had left was the one king bed rooms so they were "upgrading us". I told them that was really not acceptable as I had already paid and we needed the room with 2 separate beds. The front desk clerk said well there is a pull out couch and we don't have anything else available. After being assigned the room, we were given a room key. We went to the room we were assigned and when I opened the door we found that the room was already occupied. A dog started barking and came running at us as we started to enter the room. I shut the door quickly and we had to go back down to the front desk for another room assignment. I was not impressed at all with the check in process. It did not seem like the front desk staff knew what they were doing and what rooms they had available. This mix up could have potentially been a safety issue for both us and also for the people who's room they had mistakenly assigned to us. The next morning when I went to check out they asked how my stay was and I told them it was not good and what had happened at check in. The front desk staff were not apologetic. They did not offer any type of discount or reimbursement for their mistakes. I will not be staying at a Candlewood Suites again!
