The old Garðskagi Lighthouse on Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland
The old Garðskagi Lighthouse on Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland
The blue lagoon is a geothermal spa in Grindavik in southwest Iceland. It is a man-made lagoon fed by the waters of the neighbouring geothermal plant Svartsengi. The water temperature is a balmy 37-39 centigrade. The waters have healing properties due to a high silica and sulphur content which gives the water its opaque blue colour.
After a 24 hour layover and a cramped flight from JFK, this was the perfect respite and welcome to Iceland. Grab a skyr smoothie from the Lagoon Bar, slather some silica mud on your face and let all your tension melt away in the steaming blue water.
No better place to relax after a fantastic week in Iceland. Just perfect milky blue steaming water in a unreal environment.
Great experience!!!
