Our room didn't have a kitchen table or chairs to eat at or a chair to sit in while watching television. We only had a pulled out couch for 3 of us to sit on. Breakfast didn't contain any protein and was very limited.

Centrally located with room variety

Great location. The one bed room was like a shoebox and flat pillows. Perks were a small frig & microwave in room and a decent size bathroom with hot water. Breakfast was an assortment of pastries, cold cereal & oatmeal, juice and coffee. The ice chest is tucked into a corner of the common space. I wouldn't stay in a single bed room again. The lodge and cabins were more spacious and some included kitchens. Common fire rings were also available. It's centrally located to places I wanted to visit: Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Keystone, and Rapid City for convenience shopping.

Dirty room & rude staff!

Check-in was fine, the young man working was kind & helpful. We arrived late in the evening & our lodge room was located across HWY 16. When we entered the room, we immediately noticed a strong smell (dirty feet) & the room was warm- the AC had not been running. It took a while to get the room cooled down. It was clear that the room had been barely cleaned- tv stand was dusty, remote was filthy, window ledge had dead bugs, loose hairs in the bathroom & in the bed sheets (I actually question if the sheets were clean?!?!), plastic shower curtain liner was dirty & slimy, etc. Because it was late & we had an early morning we decided to just stick it out. When we checked out the next morning we nicely let the staff know about the room conditions & at first they seemed receptive to the feedback, however quickly became annoyed & sarcastically asked if we could "please check over all the rooms for cleanliness before new guests arrive today..." This was a shocking response to some honest feedback of their dirty room, and no offer to discount or compensate us. We come to the Black Hills several times a year (my parents live nearby) and although the location is convenient near family, we will never stay here again. I would not recommend Rockerville to anyone.

The bed was not comfortable at all. It was like sleeping on playwood and the room was very tight. You couldn't close the bathroom door without hitting the bed. You get about a foot between the bed and wall to get to the bathroom.

Quantity over quality?

Neat little room that was alright, decor and furnishings a little outdated. Having paper towels huge plus, the amenities in the room were great. Never turned the tv on. The AC sounds like you're over the wing on a Boeing 747. Bed was a very loud creaky and not very comfy. The pillows must have been purchased in another country because they wouldn't even pass for an armrest on any couch in America!
