Great, inexpensive hotel in older part of Quito.

This inexpensive hotel was recommended by a local. It is in the old area of Quito on the border of where you want to walk in the evening and where you don't. The rooms are large and comfortable, the breakfast is very good and the hotel has several "chill out" areas to relax, including a nice garden, as well as a play room with ping pong and a big screen tv. The service was great!

Staff, and location are excellent

The rooms themselves are a bit rustic in appearance, but entirely functional. Wi-Fi needs work...signal is sporadic and weak when available. Location is fabulous as it is less than a block to La Ronda, the main access into the historic central city. The staff is outstanding especially Paola, who can do everything from advise on day trips and securing taxi services, to banking and shopping opportunities. After 2 weeks, the scrambled eggs for breakfast needed alternatives, or expansion...take advantage of their willingness to store bags of your food in their kitchen...we added some cartons of peach juice, and Italian bread...we even had some leftover pizza for lunch that they kept for us.That service was appreciated as we had snacks to take on our daily excursions.

GREAT VALUE !!!!... and close to everything!

Attentive staff....from Paola the manager, to Reception , Housekeeping and Restaurant...and also the friendly and helpfull Marco the security guard. All make you feel at home. CLEAN rooms and impresive Colonial gounds...comfortable bed. Great Cable TV with CNN in English. Breakfast cost 2.50 and includes Coffee, bread, juice and eggs. They even arrange a reasonably priced Airport pick up for $20 for one person. The hotel is right in City Center about 4 to 5 blocks from the main plaza. I wish they had safety box in rooms and electronic locks . I had lunch for about $3.50 at the Caribe coffeshop right across the street....lunch included soup, main dish, juice and small desert.

great hostel!

i booked a shared room and was told after i checked in that i would be receiving a roommate - she never arrived so i got to enjoy an enormous private room with four bunk beds and a private half-bath - the showers were downstairs but not at all a hassle or gross perfect location in el centro and i appreciated the safe terraces to smoke outside or just get outdoors without leaving the property - highly recommended

Great hotel. Wished we had more time in Quito.

The room was big and clean. The staff was friendly. Great free breakfast of eggs, bread rolls and coffee. Wifi was working nicely and we were able to use Skype. We would come back again.

Great place to stay in the historic district!

The hotel was overall cute and comfortable with convenience to the historic district including food and shopping. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast and great views of the statue Panecillo. For a small fee, they will let you park your rental car safely inside the hotel, otherwise, free parking is available within a couple of blocks away.

Good location but quite noisy. Hot water non stop. Did not try breakfast. Some front desk staff were super friendly, some not so much but we got what we wanted

A great deal for your money!

Everything was excelent. People that runs Solera House are well educated and properly prepared to treat clients diligently. Hospitality is their best feature... and smiles are for free! Hotel facilities were far better than expected. There are two things that could improve room confort: noise reduction, and a TV set in every room. A must would be to take better care of bathroom conditions. Our room had the best view... Solera's strongest point is their employees: nice, well educated, diligent and always smiley people. They made me feel at home, even better... jaja

Nice hotel in the old town

Hotel is located right in the middle of the old town with all the old town places within an easy walking distance. Bus/trolley station to mariscal is nearby too. La Ronda is literally around the corner and is quite entertaining in the evening with all the shops, performances, etc. It is safe too. The hotel is quite nice with free wifi, simple and filling breakfast served by a lovely lady and a TV area. Lovely. Rooms facing the garden may get some noise at night from La Ronda, esp. on Friday and Saturday nights, so you may want to ask for a room facing the main entrance street. I recommend this hotel.

Noise may be killer

Great hotel, wonderful staff. If you party late, It's ideal. Otherwise the noise coming from La Ronda from 9pm til 2 am is a Show stopper

Close to Old Town with nice courtyard.

Great little place right at the edge of Old Town. Great service. Beautiful property. The floors creak a bit and the walls are thin. Great common areas. We were one of the first to stay in newly renovated property.

Location is OK in the old town. I have booked a private room and they give me a dorm room with 8 beds and only me in the room. The Wifi is not good in my room. I need to sit at the corridor to connect the wifi.

Goede lokatie

Trop bruyant malheureusement.

Excelente hotel!

Me encantó! Lo único es que las cortinas son de gasa y entra el sol desde que sale el sol.
