Nice accommodations close to UC Berkeley.

Pros: I really enjoyed the hotel grounds. The gardens were a delight. I loved the furnishings in our room. The breakfast was more than we expected.
Cons: Our refrigerator unit did not work. But we most ate out so it was not an issue this time. The parking situation is not the best.
Location: This is ideal location close to UC Berkeley and all East Bay locations as well as San Francisco. Also close to some great coffee shops and eateries.

First, I have over itching 30 bites all over my body after staying in this hotel. Either flies or bed bugs. Horrible. Second, my reservation says that the parking is free, but it doesnt say that it wouldnt be available. Hotel have a tiny parking lot which is always full so you'll need to park in the street and move your car every 2hrs. Third, receptionists are not in charge, so in order to reach the manager of the place you'll be advised to send an email. And it will never be replied.

No, I would not stay again.

Pros: Again, the water pressure was good. Breakfast was provided, though it was not great. Coffee at breakfast was good. Desk clerk was pleasant.
Cons: New carpeting, working furniture, working ceiling fan and fixing the bathroom tile would go a long way. A working Ice machine would be nice.
Location: Location on Telegraph was the key selling point. Near the campus and a BART station. There are stores and restaurants within easy walking distance.
Unpleasant stay. Old buildings are sometimes quaint and have character. My room was just old and uncomfortable. My room (610) was extremely small, which would be okay for one person in some circumstances. The closet had room for a few pair of pants, but not shirts. The dresser would have been helpful, had there been handles to open all three drawers. The room was stuffy, so I tried to turn on the ceiling fan, but, no, the fan did not work. The mattress was a soft, lumpy mess. The carpeting was very old and no one would walk bare foot on it. the bathroom had badly broken tile lining the shower/tub. Water pressure was great. That was the nice feature. There is an ice machine, but in several tries it produced one ice cube. I think the housekeeping staff did their best, but the facility is just too nasty.

Fantastic, can't wait to return

Wish we could have stayed longer. Staff was super pleasant, hotel felt like we stepped back in time (in the best way possible), and the free breakfast was very generous. My daughter loved walking through the lovely garden.

Unique and interesting

Pros: See above.
Cons: It's an old facility - don't go expecting Mariott's. That said - we were perfectly comfortable. The room, dining room and grounds are clean and tidy!
Location: Very convenient location. And the price was great. We will stay there again for sure!
We enjoyed our stay at the Rose Garden Inn. We prefer this kind of place to the typical Holiday Inn. There were murals everywhere, interesting gardens - all with a homey kind of funky atmosphere. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.

We were disappointed. Our room was very small and needed refurbishment. Breakfast was mediocre. It was certainly not worth the expense! Far too over-priced for what it is.

Charming and clean place to stay in Berkeley near UC campus

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I have an office in Berkeley and decided to stay overnight there when a friend visited from LA. They upgraded our room at no extra charge on a busy wk end. I guess they sold our original room to a walk in. The place was elegant and clean. Nice garden atmosphere. The bed was large and comfy, but sort of shorter than a normal King size bed. No bid deal. Other guests had class. We arrived on a motorcycle in typical gear, and nobody blinked; hey it's Berkeley! The room was large and comfortable. The tub wouldn't drain well, but we told them upon check out and they assured us it would be "snaked" immediately. No big deal for us. The continental breakfast was icing on the cake. Helpful staff. It's right on Telegraph near campus, within walking distance to many restaurants and attractions. You're gonna pay quite a bit to stay in the Bay area anyhow. I decided to pay a little more and stay here, rather than my budget preference, Super 8. Totally worthy it.

Loved the Inn

Very comfortable, charming, safe. Good breakfast, afternoon cookies are a plus. Berkeley is a great location to visit sites around SFO and Oakland. Our room had gas fireplace, private bath, fridge and microwave. Rooms are in a Victorian home but they still had satellite TV. Lovely gardens. Helpful staff, onsite parking. Great restaurants, shops and movies all around.
