Our rooms were spotless and the furnishings were like new. It would have been nice to have a noon checkout but everything else exceeded my expectations

Harbor Side stay at Atlantis = B+

Pros: I liked the spacious rooms, easy access to downtown, and the peacefulness of being away from the central party areas. Everything was clean and pretty.
Cons: I booked a harbor view and didn't get it but halfway through the trip was changed to another room. However that room had a strong musty odor and ants.
Location: Harborside is only a short shuttle ride to the Royal Towers and it's waterpark, casino, bars, aquarium, etc. A short ferry ride away is downtown shops
The Atlantis resort has several towers/areas you can stay in. Harborside is the first section of rooms when you first get to the island. This is a pro and con. The Pro is that you can access it quickly and it is extremely close to the ferry that takes you over to downtown. Also, these are condo style units that have living room, kitchen with appliances and separate bedrooms. The extra room made it comfortable and peaceful as it is away from the rest of the party central towers. The Cons is the same thing, location. You have to take shuttles to get to the rest of the resort where all the nightlife, aquariums, and water park are. Overall we found hotel staff throughout the resort to be OK. There were a couple friendly, outstanding employees such as Phillip at front desk or the numerous shuttle drivers that always had a smile on their face. Other hotel & resort staff were less friendly. Many of them barely cracked a smile and it seemed they were annoyed by tourists being there; however I will say that they always answered our questions and helped when asked. Being the Bahamas I expected being pampered and being gushed over but that was not the case. The ferry & taxi drivers were very friendly as well, though they work for tips of course.

PERFECT FAMILY RESORT

Pros: I liked Harborside because it has a kitchen and washer and dryer, very convenient for a family. Not to mention how pretty the grounds, pools are.
Cons: I do think the rooms need some updating. But it isn't anything that would make me not want to go there. They could streamline check in.
Location: 10 min. walk to the water park or 2 min. shuttle. Never had to wait more than 5 min. Plenty of shopping and restraunts near by. Pool are is beautiful!
aWe stayed at Harborside Resort. After reading many reviews, we were hopefully optimistic. Of course, there were more good reviews than bad. But you tend to dwell on the bad. We had one snafu with our room when we arrived. The room they assigned us was clearly under renovation, when we went back to the desk, the hotel staff was very apologetic and embarrassed. She assigned us another room but wouldn't be ready for 90 more minutes. I was deflated, after traveling all day, we just wanted to change and take on Atlantis. However, I did not complain, but she sensed my disappointment. We were then gifted a beautiful room (in only 20 minutes) We were pleasantly surprised. Our room was perfect! It was a large one bedroom. My two boys slept on a pull out couch, we got a roll away for my daughter. Yes, there were cracks in the counter top from wear, chips in the tile, but it was clean and nice. We had a balcony with a view of the harbor, we could watch the Yachts come in. We pre-ordered breakfast, snack and lunch foods from foodstore2go.com 2 days before our arrival. I texted the delivery person when we got to our room, he came, put all the groceries away, went over our list, it was perfect! We ordered bottle water for the pool and beach, but we used the tap water for coffee and cooking, perfectly safe. Every person we met from cab driver, shuttle operators, hotel staff, excursions and even the locals trying to sell us their goods, were so nice and friendly.

Robberies at Harborside Resort

Guests Beware, There have been spring of robberies at this resort. I have documented facts from prior guests of the following events. All were safe break-ins, all at the same villa 3706-07 and all in Jan 2011. We were hit for $* cash. The guest 1 week prior to arrival was hit for $*cash. The guest 2 weeks prior to our arrival lost $*cash along with a $*ladies watch. There was another incident of a stolen wallet, and yet another of a stolen camera (unrelated). In all approx $*in cash and jewelry have gone missing from this resort. Who knows how many other (owner related) incidents have been sweep under the rug. Management has ignored our situation and is not cooperating with any of the guests and owners. The local Police are not any better. After talking with the victims, in our opinion, the overall consensus is that Harborside staff is involved with part or all of the robberies mentioned. The facts and evidence are just to coincidental. We intend to follow through with this complaint with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Inc and Kerzner International Resorts.

The Atlantis Suburbs

Just got back tonight. Had a blast. Harborside is your basic timeshare development. It doesn't try and be "luxury" like other properties at Atlantis. Beds, linens etc were clean & comfortable, kitchen had all we needed. TVs good good cable and had a nice Bose DVD/sound system. Got the "grocery express" for * dollars and got almost all that we needed. The Point was the only bar that we could get happy hour drinks - * bucks instead of *+, and they were great drinks too. In room internet was */day, so we limited the kids to the free 15 minutes in the clubhouse - better all round :). Shuttle to the other Atlantis properties was easy, never more than a 2-3 min wait. Nice to walk around the marina and look at the million dollar yachts. The Cove area is just beautiful - best pool. Water Park there and at the Royal Towers is super. Coral Towers and Beach Towers outside area are a bit run down and could do with a coat of paint. Unfortunately that actual beach was closed due to rough seas for most of the time we were there. As stated elsewhere, restaurants were very expensive, but it was a vacation, so some splurging is allowed. I found the staff to be very friendly and did not get the feeling that they expected to be tipped constantly. But a built in 15% grat. may do that to people.

Harbor side villas - that;'s the economic way to go

First off let me say that the photos they show are of a PREMIUM room not the Delux. The delux was nice but not what they show in the photos. Still a nice place. Never had to wait more than 5 minuetes for a shuttle to any of the towers. Taxi rides are about $* dollars from the airport and we had 5 people in our party. That was $* for all of us! We did take the shuttle into the store the next day It is $* per person so really only 1 should go if you want to save money. They give yo an hour. Yes things are high there. The only tax they have is import tax and they are an island. Everyone is friendly and tries to be helpful but if you call on the phone be prepared to be transferred several times. Living room furniture needed stronger cushioning, its seen its support d Bed was good and comfortable, support but pillows were a little to be desired. In the laundry closet is also an extra blanket and 2 pillows. If you are renting you get room cleaned everyday if you are time share it is mid day of your stay. The onsite resturants are not worth their price. There is a deli and pizzaria that are good, deli sandwiches are huge and the onsite resturaunt of Harborside "the point" was very reasonable and the food was great, no flies as one spoke of. we were there 11/6 to 11/13 2009 There is tons to do and see its for all types of people, never had a problem getting a towel or a chair poolside or beach.

Harborside 1 bedroom villa

The room was clean and everyone on the resort was nice and helpful. The rooms with water views of the marina village is very picturesque and worth requesting. There is no room service at Harborside so you need to stop at the local grocery store or pay higher resort sundry store prices to fill the refridgerator. Starbucks is a 10 minute walk from Harborside and sells decent sandwiches. The shuttle was never more than a 5 minute wait to any of the towers. The pools are plentiful and the slides were fun. "The Dig" in the Royal Tower is worth seeing as well as finding time to see the other fishtanks, Dolphin cay, and the shark and royal stingray lagoons. Downtown is a short taxi ride away and worth exploring for lower priced Bahamian souveniers but the shops close early. If you do not stay at Atlantis make sure you make time to visit and see all this megaresort has to offer.

Disappointed

My husband and I stayed here from 6/26 - 7/3/09 and were terribly disappointed. For all the hype of Atlantis, the Harborside fell dramatically short. It has neither the posh nor the upkeep of the main Atlantis hotels (ie the Royal Tower, Coral Tower, The Reef, etc). Our room wasn't ready until 2 hours AFTER check-in (we had arrived 2 hours before check-in and the staff knew we were waiting the whole time). During our first (and only) lunch at the on-sight open air restaurant, we were swarmed by flies when our food arrived - disgusting. When we got to our room, it had a burnt out lightbulb, clogged toilet, broken safe and the bathroom doorknob was practically falling off. They did come by and fix all but the broken safe (which never got fixed all week even though we called more than once). The hotel staffmembers, although friendly, are unable or unwilling to help guests with problems. FYI - The pillows are flat, the bed lumpy, and they only give you one skinny, scratchy blanket per bed. There is absolutely no room service. The towel hut opens at 9 (even though most excursions like snorkeling leave around 8) so make sure you get your towels the night before. As for the food - it is ridiculously over-priced at alll the Atlantis restaurants. Tip is included in your bill regardless of the level of service so the wait staff is not exceptional. Have your taxi driver hit the grocery store on your way there from the airport so you don't have to pay $7 per person for the grocery store shuttle later. Overall - using your timeshare is a cheap way to stay at the Atlantis, but you do get what you pay for...

It's the Bahamas

Service is slow and the help staff really don't care. But what would you expect from Bahamian people. I've been to the Bahamas many times for work and some vacations and the service peolple seem like they are doing you a favor. Other than the service, it's a unique and nice hotel. Very clean.
