Château Versailles – Elegant Charm with a Few Rough Edges We recently stayed at Château Versailles in Montreal and, overall, had a lovely experience. This charming boutique hotel is full of old-world character—from the creaky floors and crank windows to the tastefully elegant décor featuring ceiling and wall mosaics, decorative chair rails, pillars, and beautiful details throughout. It’s definitely not your typical modern chain hotel, and that’s a big part of its appeal. Our room was especially cozy. The bed was comfortable, dressed in quality linens, and the bathroom was outfitted with plush towels, a lighted makeup mirror, and pleasantly fragranced soaps and shampoos. We also appreciated the in-room safe, fridge, and Nespresso machine with cups—a lovely touch. Staff at the front desk were always helpful and friendly, and the fact that they offer umbrellas to borrow was much appreciated. One downside worth mentioning is the lack of an elevator. Guests must climb a flight of stairs to reach the reception area, which might be a challenge for those with mobility issues. The toilets are also quite low, again posing an issue for those with knee or back problems. However, the biggest disappointment during our stay was the breakfast experience.

A perfect stay for Montreal

I love this hotel because of the fascinating history that goes along with the history of Montreal, the amazing breakfast, the gorgeous interior design and the design of the rooms, many stairs, huge windows, antiques and antique photos, etc., the location, the fabulous Italian restaurant across the street, and even the pizza delivery from the best pizza place ever. Staff were so helpful and friendly I couldn't ask for better. I would most definitely choose Chateau Versailles again and highly recommend it.

The check-in experience was far from ideal. Staff changes every 15 minutes. The reception couldn't find my car keys and didn't repark the car until 4 hours after check in. The rooms are old and in desperate need of renovation, especially the old carpets. Breakfast space is constantly crowded and it's hard to find a seat. The selection of food is very limited but if you are not too picky you can have a light breakfast there. On the bright side, the linens are clean.

We travelled to Montreal the last week in June for a pre-summer getaway. I wanted to find a hotel that was quiet and in a location with easy access to transit. This hotel fit the bill so well! It is a quaint, old style hotel in a great location - just up the street from Guy-Concordia Station. The hotel has a European flair, so if you're looking for a change from the modern looking hotels this would be it. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The experience of being in La Belle Province in a hotel with a European flair made for wonderful memories that we'd love to repeat one day.

It is a clean hotel and very nice. It is an older building so getting to my room was kind of wonky (down a hallway, up a staircase, down a stairvase$. The first night the ac in the room was not working, and when I brought it to their attention the next morning, they had it fixed by the tom we got back. Staff was. Very friendly.

I have stayed at this hotel many times since 2000. The place has deteriorated. It now needs a serious upgrade to virtually everything from the decor to the breakfast quality and service.

Never stayed in a historical hotel before. The staff and check in process was friendly. The room had a lot wrong and just ruined the experience. Not as clean as expected, mold on caulking in shower. Could not sit properly on toilet because of position to counter and wall. The AC was so noisy, even when ours stopped could hear the AC from upstairs. Could hear voices clearly from next door. No drinking water was provided in the room. Bed was comfortable but had a strange curtain rod attached to head board. The included breakfast was not too impressive. So we only stayed one night out of our 5 day stay.
