You get what you pay for.

The hotel location is ideal however the hotel is in need of upgrades. AC works but is old and musty. Staff seemed unfamiliar with the hotel's amenities. Great coffee, stale pastries. Would stay again after the recommended improvements.

A good value if you're not looking for an all-inclsuive resort

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet, right on the beach
Nice place, right on the beach. Older hotel, but well maintained. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast is very basic, but for a little extra you can get a nice omelette or French toast.

The hotel was adequate. The location was great.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Pros - Location of hotel is excellent. Within walking distance to Main Street. Security was great. They were really on the ball. Pool lifeguards were excellent. They kept the pool and the surrounding areas extremely clean. Maids kept our room very clean. The beach was extremely well kept. The almond trees kept us very comfortable. Cons - Mold on curtains in our room. I have pictures of the mold as proof. The servers in the dining room were not pleasant. They never smiled, never said thank you for a tip, and made me feel like I was putting them out when I asked for something. (This would have to be my biggest complaint). Not happy with American Airlines at all. Three of our four flights were late. Flight attendents were very nice though.

It is a nice hotel in need of minor maintenance and some upgrades.

Pros: Close restaurants, staff was friendly, plenty of security at the hotel
Cons: Poor breakfast, internet was very unstable, workout center had no air and not even a breeze.
I would only recommend this place for a quick budget stay. There is not much to do at the hotel. It is right off the beach. The pool is only 31/2 feet deep to my surprise. The workout room had no a/c at all. The bathtubs were cracked and the water as well as the "free internet" was extremely unstable. The hotel staff ended up friendly as the week went on. It is near stores and restaurants but the native Jamaicans can be overbearing trying to sell products. Lastly the onsite restaurant never changed its menu and there was not much of a variety to choose from. All in all my son and I made the best of the Jamaican trip. If you want the experience to be a good one travel expecting to spend lots of cash.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Graet value for the money. Happy friendly employees, couldn't do enough for you, very welcoming. Room was clean ,bright, fabulous view of the beach, good size balcony , shower and toilet could stand updating-worked fine just old.Food wassimple well priced, best cheeseburger wife has ever had -had it every day.Felt important to the resort, security very good, but felt safe walking around Ocho Rios.Scotchies is a must visit for the best jerk and look for Freddy the cab driver. Guests were also a world cross section ,from US,Canada,UK,and Norway-friendly ,happy to be on the beach.

This is a very "traditional Jamaican hotel."

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: bathrooms need refurbishing
The room was clean and had matching bedspread/sofa/drapes - nicely decorated. Very quiet hotel. Room had a slight musty smell, but that is typical for the environment. We did not have a balcony, but we did have huge sliding glass doors with a railing so we could open up the room during the day to get fresh air in the room. The only down-side was the bathroom - could've been nicer. Soap dish was hanging off and the tub drained very slowly (filled up while you were showering); however, it was probably due to sand in the drain. When we called for maintenance, he was there in 5 minutes and quickly remedied the situation. The restaurant was nice - complimentary continental breakfast was a treat. Pool was nice with a cute swim-up bar. Beach was SPOTLESS. We were not harrassed by any beach "salesmen." We walked all over town - it was nice to be so close to the action. Overall, we will definitely stay here again.
