Our recent stay at The Hotel Windsor was incredibly disappointing and far from the 5-star experience it claims to offer. While the hotel may have once been a Melbourne icon, it’s now relying on its historic reputation rather than delivering the service or standards you’d expect at this level.
From the outset, the experience was riddled with issues:
We were charged twice for our stay, and it took three emails and two phone calls to have the duplicate payment refunded.
There was confusion about parking and poor communication overall — I had to repeatedly follow up on almost every query.
Housekeeping was substandard: towels and bathmats were taken and never replaced, and the body wash and shampoo dispensers remained empty throughout our stay despite informing the front desk.
After ordering room service, my husband became unwell with food poisoning–type symptoms.
We were promised a bottle of bubbles to apologise for the inconveniences, but it never arrived.
Despite requesting two rooms on the same level when booking, this was not honoured.
We also overheard other guests complaining about the general cleanliness and how old and tired the hotel looks — sadly, we have to agree.
After raising all these issues with Harry and Sahir (Front Office Managers), we were offered a refund for one night’s accommodation and our room service bill. However, almost four weeks later, we are still waiting. Although the duplicate charge was eventually refunded, that was it.
Would not recommend.
