Purchase of ferry tickets

When we checked in, the woman at the reception told us that the ferry tickets to Mackinac Island included priority boarding, so we purchased them. However, it turned out that priority boarding was not actually included.

Outdated rooms, confusing booking. Thought i had booked double queen beds as it stated on the booking and pictures. Only got 1 queen bed. Room smelled musty amd carpet was stained and bunched up.

Terrible decision

This was our worst stay in a hotel ever. The hotel is not in good condition and needs renovation ASAP. Breakfast was bad and they use coffee that makes us sick.

There are definitely pros and cons...

Pros: - Was the "cheapest" around on a Friday night (we paid $110) - You can buy Mackinac ferry tickets at the front office for $1 cheaper than online. Plus the Sheplers shuttle will come and pick you up from the hotel and drop you back off there after which was awesome. Travelodge will let you keep your car there for the day while you're on the island even if you stay the night before. - Free breakfast, although there weren't too many options. - Bed wasn't too uncomfortable, but very small pillows - Front desk staff was nice Cons: - Hairdryer and TV didn't work - There was a spider and mosquito in my room - Musty smell especially in the bathroom, felt moist in the room, gross ceiling tiles that are molding, the shower wall moved when I leaned on it (weird and gross) - Floors are super dirty and must not get cleaned. My socks got black on the bottom after walking around just a little... so maybe pack an extra pair of clean socks in the morning and wear shoes around. - Room in general just felt very run outdated, but it was a budget place so I guess you get what you pay for

Our room had tiles that were raised as if a possible water leak had happened. The room had a very distinct odor to it as soon as you opened the door. Bathroom was very small a very very low shower head, that was not good for my 6'2 husband. Breakfast was nice and warm.

They said they just bought the hotel so give it a month and we'll see what happens. The breakfast was just okay the first day it was a couple hours late or so. Second day it was right on time but the cleaning stuff lady I asked her a question about some pillows because the front desk said they had none and this lady had four pillows extra for me within 10 minutes. That was worth a $5 tip. For coffee and something else and I thanked her because I needed them pillows to help me sleep.. the hotel was quiet except for some of the cars that were staying there beautiful cars absolutely incredible the people were nice there they had a few complaints. But overall it needs work but they just bought it remember that so give it some time.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel itself was old and not kept up. Our room had chewed up trim and walls from a dog presumably left in the room. The shower wall was caving in as if there was no wall behind it. There was also a bad odor in the room. Location was OK. We were able to walk to Shepplers marina ( one mile ) and leave our car at the hotel.

Staff was very hospital, especially the staff in the breakfast area. The rooms need updating, ceiling tiles stained or falling down. Bathtub won’t shut off. Tub stained. Bathroom floor tile pitied.

The rave reviews on this hotel are not what it is

The pool was not available until the night before we left, and it was so cold you couldn't enjoy it, they have a mouse problem and the mice had eaten holes in creamers in the breakfast area,bought a swiffer mop and mopped the floors because our feet and socks were dirty from walking on them, whatever they use as an air freshener was overwhelming and gave you a headache for abou 24 hrs, it was reasonable for prici g but i am not sure how they have rave reviews, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay that isn't great but gets the job done this is it, not some place you want to spend much time in
