Classic Sophistication

Pros: The service is impeccable, the décor is classic, old Louisville. The beds are heaven! Stay on the club floor and have Sunday brunch at the Oakroom!
Cons: The Club room needs to be available 24 hours, even with limited service. I was disappointed the desserts were taken away at 9pm.
Location: Fourth Street Live is directly across the street! This is the best place to stay for late night, city life.
A girls' spa weekend was capped off by a stay at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky. We opted for a room on the Club Floor (7) with two double beds. The rooms are smaller than their direct competitor--the Brown Hotel, but somehow nicer. The beds are plush and dressed in high thread-count, Egyptian cotton sheets, down duvets, and the best pillows imaginable. The bath was tiny, but clean and classic. Free toiletries are of good quality and include shower caps, mending kits, cotton balls, etc. in addition to the standard options. The club room provided excellent cheeses, charcuterie, fruit, crackers, and an honor bar in the afternoon, desserts in the evening, and a hot breakfast the following morning. Soft drinks and water were available 24 hours in a dedicated refrigerator just outside the club room.

Nice hotel - very close to all downtown sites

Pros: It was very close and within walking distance to all of the downtown sites that we were interested in seeing. The elevators ran very quickly.
Cons: When the A/C unit in our room was running, it blew directly across the bed and was extremely cold. We never found a comfortable setting.
Location: Downtown location was close to all the museums and Fourth Street Live, which had live entertainment and lots and good restaurants.
This was a nice hotel. The staff was great. The history of the hotel was very interesting, too.

it's a nice place

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy, Poor breakfast
there was a problem with the- hot water taps in the bathroom- i basically would have to let the water run for 5 minutes to get it hot, and there was hardly any pressure in the shower , ----- also the room did not have a fridge, and the only available ice machines were on a few- selected floors of the hotel--- also the so-complementary breaksfast, wasn't so free after all. it costs 15.00 dollars , and it's not any better than the one at any quality inn , or ramada inn----the shuttle will -not waiting for you at the airport, the airport help desk will have to call it for you, and it takes at least 30 minutes for them to show up....this hotel is greatly overrated, nexttime i'll try the -brown hotel down the street===========

Noise! No sleep

Cons: Noisy
This is a great hotel. If you like the old romanic type hotel. And a lot of history. But beware! If your planning a nice evening on a Friday or Saturday night in this hotel. You need to stay out in a bar untill at least 1:00am, because before that you cant hear your self think in the room!! Forth street Live is so noisey. don't bother calling the front desk. the city will over rule you....

Average experience overall. I would stay here again, but would probably try a different hotel close by if available to compare.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, cafe buffet breakfast expensive
Pros: Nice building (pretty). Friendly staff. Cons: Checkin staff offered NO information upon checkin without me asking first. (How do we get to our room? What is the best way for us to get to the parking garage?)) (No information offered about restraurants, bars, gym, vending within the building or nearby) No extra roll of toilet paper in the room (only the roll on the holder) (NEVER experienced this before) Room reservation for 3 persons, but only enough towels, etc for 2 persons.

Great Experience

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, spacious rooms, family friendly
Cons: No free Internet
We stayed at the Seelbach as part of a birthday party group. My husband and I stayed in an executive suite on the concierge floor. The room was a great value and comparable to a regular room at other hotels. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and very polite. They went out of their way to give our group free passes for events on 4th street for the evening. The hotel is right next door to 4th street live. No long walks to the other hotels. The hotel itself is beautiful and worth a walk in to look around even if your not staying.

Excellent Hotel

Pros: friendly staff
Cons: No free Internet
Great hotel. Definitely an American classic. Much of the Hotel's architecture and tiling is from the early 1900's, which give it a very historic appeal. Room was spacious, beautiful LCD TV and amazingly comfortable bed. Con: No High Speed Internet Available!

Good stay, but soundproofing needed.

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: Noisy
My previous stay at this hotel was great. I would downgrade this one to good. The bed was very comfortable, but I could hear every sound from the room next door. It was awkard. Th room service was fair to good in quality, but the late menu is quite limited.

Old world charm and comfort

Pros: Quiet
The Seelbach was very comfortable and quiet, a great environment in which to relax and enjoy Louisville. The staff was responsive and helpful. The architectural details in the hotel add to the old world charm and are indicative of the city's important industrial past. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Lousiville.
