Hotel Oasis
"This review, like any for Loreto, has to be read in context. It is currently in between a sleepy coastal village and a developing resort, in a controlled way. The options are good for somewhere that size but not even remotely comparable to Cabo. So trade-offs need to be made. In that context, the Oasis motel (as it should be called) is a valid choice. Pros: on beach; quiet; relaxed vibe; fun breakfast coffee experience provided by an outside vendor with fresh goat milk (as in straight from the goat). Cons: older (circa 1990?) property that has clearly never been updated; not so reassuring old-fashioned motel door and key lock; cramped older bathroom with loud fan. Both pro and con: not-so-inviting swimming pool; edge of town location walkable to center and marina but felt long in the sun and dust; buffet breakfast with the essentials but fairly basic; restaurant on big dark atmospheric patio with a homespun feel and fairly limited menu. You can see that at one time, this was the place. For better or worse, every other guest we saw (and they all appeared promptly at breakfast) was an American over 70, many of them regulars. The best part (other than the sea itself) was the owner's large pack of happy friendly dogs, some of which escorted us to our room and later out to the beach and hung out at breakfast with the goat and helped to create a very Baja laid-back atmosphere."
