Stay in a premier inn, save your money

We stayed at your hotel on 24th June. When planning trips for one night I would usually be more than happy as we know the standard is good and we have a good nights sleep. On this occasion when booking we saw your hotel advertised and thought we would treat ourselves to something a bit more up market. The hotel is advertised as a 4 star “stylish, comfortable, unique experience” all of these things are unfortunately lacking. While the lobby offers a quirky and inviting environment this is where it ends. The hotel is dated, worn and is desperate need of renovation. While this is not the core reason for the complaint it certainly is a factor contributing to our disappointment. On the night of our stay we arrived back at our hotel after a concert eager to get some rest. Unfortunately this was when the main reason of the complaint arose. The room clearly has poor quality windows resulting in lack of sleep and it felt like we were sleeping outside. I understand that this is a city centre hotel, however the noise level in room 209 was magnified due to the lack of double glazing and steps taking to minimise this for customers. When checking in we joked with staff about a free upgrade and was advised they were fully booked so we knew that our only options was to remain in the room. As well as the outside noise any time there was movement in the room next door, the walls are so thin you felt that the other guests were in our room. I addressed our concerns with the staff in the morning

Pros Pleasant staff and room was clean and spacious. Cons Corridor outside room was dated with peeling wallpaper. In entry to the room theee was a piece of wood with a hole in it??? Bath has small brown marks in several places which looked really unpleasant, possibly cigarette burns. Basin had a large crack in it. Considering I paid almost £250 for the room, we were very disappointed! I would have assumed that repairing these faults would be a priority for such an expensive hotel.

Elegant building in the centre of Liverpool, 5-minute walk from the iconic Mathew Street,famous for its Beatles history, ideal for exploring the city, with Liverpool Lime Street station nearby and Albert Dock just 10 minutes away. Shankly boasts refined furnishings and spacious rooms with large, comfortable beds. We had high expectations, but some practical issues caused disappointment: the kettle was inside a wardrobe with no nearby surface or accessible socket. The power cord was too short to reach the socket on the lower wall, making it impossible to use on a chair. We had to improvise by placing a drawer from the bedside table on the floor and using that as a makeshift stand. When we raised this issue with reception, we were told there was nothing they could do.Our quadruple room, shared among four ladies, had only one desk and chair, and just a small wardrobe—far from adequate for our group. We requested a small table and additional chairs, but our request was denied. These small details, though seemingly minor, detracted from the comfort of our stay. A standout feature was the jet hot tub, which we thoroughly enjoyed each evening after long, wonderful walks exploring the city.In summary, the Shankly Hotel is a stylish and well-located place to stay in Liverpool. Practical improvements and more responsive service, are potential to deliver a truly exceptional guest experience. We hope our feedback can contribute to enhancing this already beautiful hotel.

Good sized rooms at a reasonable rate. Nice location with a lot of places to eat and drink around. Staff were pleasant. No shower curtain on the shower/tub. Parking below the hotel, but it was difficult to pay/register since the app required can’t be downloaded on a foreign phone. We had to ask the check-in staff for help, which didn’t go as smoothly as it could have. I’d stay here again if i’m in the area. 2nd floor room was quite loud from street noise.

Nice hotel, although rather tired. Lots of hen nights at weekends, so may be noisy/lively! Staff on arrival not particularly welcoming, however on checkout the member of staff was lovely and very friendly. We were not made aware on booking that we would need photo ID with matching bank card - luckily my daughter had hers as my driving licence is a non photo one! Car park in basement is very handy, although quite busy when we arrived and spaces quite tight. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

The room was huge and luxurious and there were two enormous beds I loved it. The whirlpool bath was a fabulous bonus, Couldn't get the aircon to work but that might be our fault. A big window looking out onto the street with blackout curtains. An extra wipe of the whirlpool bath was needed, not 100 percent clean. Not really a problem. Breakfast was lovely. The staff were really helpful and friendly. A great hotel. I would stay here again.
